Merged: Lance Briggs Wants Trade!!!!!

no i dont wanna try it would probly take somewhere around a 3rd round draft pick and then we would have to sign him to a new contract.

Lance Briggs wants out of Chicago

Just saw on ESPN that Lance Briggs says the Bears need to either remove the tag or trade him to another team.

Briggs said, "I love Chicago, the coaches, the fans, yeah, I could play there forever." "But I can't play for the organization, I want out."

This could put a shake on the LB market and I believe this makes us even closer to signing Porter. Take it for what it's worth, but Briggs is now on the market.

Wow wonder what the price would be for him. We have an extra 2nd round pick.:D

Briggs wants to stay in a 4-3 system.

We do not run a 4-3 system.

We are not getting Lance Briggs.

sounds good but i rather have Porter

Agreed. Not for trading picks to get a player if another option is doable. With Briggs he is talented for sure but how much did Urlacher playing beside him and Lovie Smith's system made him? Porter will propser outside of Pittsburgh; a pure athlete. Briggs will have an impact but NOT AS MUCH of an impact on another team as he did in the Bears system. Just an IMHO of course. All others welcomed.

We learned our lesson last year trading for Culpepper and letting Breese go when he could have been gotten for free. I hope we sign Porter and end this talk quickly

briggs is useless to us..he's a 4-3 Tampa 2 LB (fast and small)...he will not translate well to the 3-4.

Guys it's not neccisarily the fact that we are looking at Briggs, but rather that there is another great OLB on the market. I believe it only inhances our chances of scooping up Porter.

Yep, maybe teams who were interested in Porter will turn there attention to the Briggs scenerio.

I guess Zach Thomas is screwwd too.:bighug:

Zach is a perennial all-pro who can make plays on any team at any position. Briggs plays the weak side LB on a phenomenal team with a freak for a MLB.
There is a big difference.

And why would you bother to pay a guy a 55 million dollar contract in the hopes that he can change position or even worse take an up and coming LB's position (Channing Crowder)?
The answer is you wouldn't unless you were changing schemes or you were incompetent.
The one good thing about this is that there is another LB on the market with less baggage than Porter, who is younger and is a pro-bowler which gives us a better chance of signing Joey Porter if that is indeed what we want to do.
