Didnt see this posted anywhere pretty interesting article here is what caught my eye the most

"Since the season ended, the Dolphins conveyed interest in re-signing Carey (haven't talked numbers), but haven't contacted Crowder's agent. (Crowder rejected an earlier offer.) Talks with Bell are ongoing."

seems like Crowder wants more than what he's worth I see him walking this offseason. Here is the link for the entire article

I wouldn't be too hasty on that prediction. It's pretty clear that when you have a quality T you re-sign him. We will definitely try to lock up Vernon Carey if possible. Tackles are just too hard to find and require high draft picks most of the time, so teams just don't let them go unless there's an injury problem or a salary cap problem ... and they're old. Interior linemen can always be had in free agency, but tackles need to be drafted and retained. So, Vernon Carey being a priority negotiation makes a lot of sense.

Bell finally had a healthy year and he was clearly the star of our secondary (sorry Will Allen). He was a real difference maker and if he can stay healthy an excellent safety. This negotiation is a no-brainer too.

Crowder is a mediocre ILB, which is the reason he stuck around this past season. He has all the athletic ability, but he lacks exactly what Zach had--instinct. Plus, the biggest negative with Crowder is that he simply doesn't come up with big plays. He doesn't force fumbles, recover fumbles, intercept passes, or even tip passes. That makes him very replacable. But, he's not a huge weak spot either. He knows the system, is very durable, and plays with speed and passion. If we can upgrade or he asks too much, sure, we'll replace him. But, it's not really high on the list of things to do. Also, I doubt too many teams will want to offer him big money in free agency, so eventually his numbers will come down to a reasonable level and if we haven't drafted someone like Laurinaitis, we'll re-sign Crowder. That's my opinion at least.

How do you know who is available to us, not before resigning periods, franchise tags will we no

The article seems to be a little misleading. Yes, there will be a lot of average players that hit the street in Free Agency - but this is a weak pool. TJ, Peppers, the cb from the raiders that I could not spell correctly if I tried - they will all be franchised. Carolina will be in predicament, they cannot franchise both Gross & Peppers, but Gross is gonna want big money.
I like the idea of Bart Scott, plus drafting an inside backer for long term. I like the thought of Bryant Johnson (though he did nothing with SF) or Antonio Bryant, though he will cost more money not as much as TJ will. Lots of Free Agents every year - Not lots of top line talent.

Reports from MIA Herald: MIA interested in re-signing Carey

According to the MIA Herald, MIA "is" indeed planning on re-signing Vernon Carey, Yeremiah Bell, Andre Goodman, and Renaldo Hill.

The report states that MIA has "not" contacted Channing Crowder's agent since Crowder rejected a contract offer early this season of backup money.

So this should help us begin to calculate what needs we will be looking to fill via FA and the draft.

I actually like this. I was looking forward to MIA pursuing Jordan Gross...but I admit it had me a little nervous being that letting Carey go was a risk in that you never know if the FA you target could decide to re-sign with his ballclub or with another team. So re-signing Carey would eliminate creating a hole at RT.

Crowder should have took the money. Bill don't pay for mediocrity. We need Vernon back because our T's is the only proven working parts on our line IMO.

Hill, I could care less about, but, he'll be a bargain for a backup. I can't see BP not upgradeing there. Carey, I could care less about either way, but, I figgured there was no way we were going to be able to re-sign both him and CC. I won't be disappointed if Crowder goes, or if he stays. I'm pretty ambivilant about it. It will dicate which way we go in FA and, the draft though.

Gross isnt coming to miami to be a RT, and Jake isn't moving to the right side. That was a pipe dream. Re-signing Carey makes great sense, otherwise they use an early to middle round pick to replace him.

we still might use a mid-round pick on OT. even if Carey re-signs, we have no real depth at the position. i wouldn't rule out a mid-level signing like Rob Pettiti either.

Agreed, actually we have no depth along the OL as evidenced by bringing in guys off the street last year when Smiley/Thomas went down.

on the contrary, i think we have some depth on the interior line with Smiley and Thomas coming back. Alleman and Ndukwe are capable back-ups IMO. they did fairly well. Johnson and Satele will be around, too. i think we're going to go heavy with the "ugly" positions regardless. Smiley has me concerned and Thomas is still an unknown at this level. all in all, i think we're going to bring in another C, OG and OT.

Yea I mean resigning Carey I really started to come around on after seeing the lack of tackle depth we have and the amount of Money it would take to get Jordan Gross. Carey is a SOLID RT, not perfect, but solid. Above average . . . and that is exactly how he should be paid, like and above average RT. He also gives us decent LT backup if Jake went down.

So if we resign all but Crowder, ILB will be very important in FA/draft. Hope we go after Bart Scott if anything.

Brandon Spikes/Rey Maulauga gets notches forward on the draft chart.

Well, we'll agree to disagree. I don't think those guys are the type of depth the trifecta wants to utilize going forward. I believe they were a product of desperation knowing you can only do so much in the 1st year of a massive rebuild. And as you mentioned, with Thomas still being unknown, and Smiley being hampered by injuries the last couple of years, think we'll be looking to draft much more capable backups than what we currently have(we do agree on this point). Lets just hope Murphy develops.

Hill has to go!!! He hits noone back there. We need a force or a ball hawk back there.Hill is none of those.
