Just read this radical idea of letting the time expire on the first pick and allowing the Rams to choose first so that the Phins don't have to pay anyone the equivalent of a number one contract:

http://www.footballgenerals.com/content/view/633/81/

I doubt Parcells would ever do it, but given the state of the salary cap, it could be something that teams have to think about in the future.

I have to agree that it sucks to pay someone number one money when it is obvious that McFadden is the only one who deserves it.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

It would be dumb unless the player that Parcells covets is still available at like pick #3. I do not know if anyone that the Dolphins wants is worth $30M in guaranteed money.

But as discussed in the past, who knows what Parcells will do. If, for example, he is sold on Dorsey, then he can afford to let the Rams pick ahead as I'm sure Dorsey would still be available with the 2nd pick.

It is playing with fire, but Parcells is a magician and you never know what he is capable of.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO I hate these threads. STOP THEM. Skipping the pick means nothing. The agent will still look for the money from the position we were supposed to draft. This topic has been brought up a hundred times in the last month and shot down and laughed at every single time. Please stop posting it. thank you.

HOW MANY THREADS ARE GONNA BE STARTED ABOUT THIS. Every day there is one started for the last month. it is a stupid idea cuz the agent for the guy who we take is gonna hold out for #1 overall money

This is perhaps the dumbest idea of the offseason(besides Matt Ryan ;)) and it is wayyy to frequent in threads.

:spamkill:

plus why did you post this in the wrong forum....if you are gonna make another one of these stupid threads, at least make it in the right forum

This is so not likely to happen.

While it 'probably' makes business sense to us by saving a few million ...

The league would crucify the FO and levy a pretty big fine.

The players association would cry foul

The agents would ignore the 1st pick and adjust the contract $$$ accordingly.

Actually, there's nothing the NFL or the player's association could really do about it as at least one team has let time expire on their pick a few years back because they didn't get their card up quickly enough. The two real big worries are that the next team to draft might pick the player Miami wanted and the agent of whichever player Miami did finally choose would still try to get #1 overall draft choice money. And that would make the team look like idiots.

excuse my ignorance, but why would we HAVE to pay big money for whoever we take? obviously he would be the number 1 pick, but what's to say he is worth big money?

guess i'm kind of a noob when it comes to the draft

:sidelol:

the only thing more certain than one of these threads popping up every 45 minutes, is that you will be in each one lambasting the poster.

Was BigEarn just playing an April Fool's joke? I hope so.
