Merged: Let the fun begin.......RICKY SPEAKS

Thank you for the synopsis. Those of us who can't read or hear the press conference appreciate it mightily.

He brought up a point I've been talking about. He's about 215 pounds right now, and only has about 10 more pounds to gain to get to 225 pounds, and yet he's got 3 months to do it before he gets to take a meaningful snap. People shouldn't forget he's got 5 weeks into the regular season before he needs to be in tip top "game shape"

And the idea that Saban has lured him back here to trade him this season is ludicrous. I get a kick out of national news media who speculate (and even go so far as to predict) that Ricky will be traded by Week 1, because it's obvious they don't have a clue what they're talking about.

I was hoping he might apologize about the marijuana thing, but him apologizing for letting anyone down last year is enough.

Exactly! I couldn't agree more. I wanted an apology, nothing more, nothing less and that's what I got. Is it REALLY so far fetched to think that Nick Saban HONESTLY believes he can get the best out of Ricky Williams and the idea of a Ricky Williams/Ronnie Brown backfield is a dream come true to him?

Welcome back Ricky, the past can finally become the past. Apology accepted! now get your @$$ in shape and help us win some ball games!

Hey Ricky Is The Man. He Was Very Smooth And Confident In His Approach To The Media. I Think He Has Proven That He Is Back And Ready To Post A Few 200+yd Games. Is This Enough In All Caps Or Should I Keep Going. Give The Guy A Break And Talk Football. I Can Read What He Is Typing Just Fine. Maybe Some Need Something To Feel Good About Themselves. Ease Up!

I just had to do it. I really only heard part of the deal. Just needed to fill some space!

Why should he apologize for smoking marijuana? Did he hurt somebody by smoking it? If he apologized for letting people down last year, he apologized for the only thing he did wrong.

Well that is the FIRST thing everyone wanted to see. Now get back to your playing weight and run over some friggin defenders and score some TD's. That's the next step.
:yeahthat: that will do for me. He sounds like he knows what he did. He says he's now come back to work. He says he hasnt stopped loving football but he had issues in his life but basically we all knew that by whats been said over the last 10mths. Time to move on.

hey guys.. i havent heard the PC yet.. did he mention his pot use at all? i remember in his 60 minutes interview, he seemed almost defiant, as in, he will continue to smoke weed no matter what. just wondering if his stance on that has just done a 180 or what. thanks for any info.

I think it is funny that some guys, MikeO in particular, make fun of Ricky for sounding weird at the press conference. For one thing, I would like to see any of you get in front of twenty or so odd live cameras and apologize to a group of people who you hurt last year. Not only that, but he has a little something called Social Anxiety Disorder.

I find it hard to believe that any of you people making fun of Ricky could do any better than he did.

Oh, and MikeO, its "conversation".

Yeah, I few of us on here have said the same thing. You are right. In my opinion, the people who continually bash Ricky (or any other person for that matter) have some personal issues that they need to resolve for themselves. We are all human. We all make mistakes. And Williams did a great job of facing up to those mistakes just by showing up and talking to all those reporters. He is more a man than those who find it neccassary and comical to continuously throw insults at him. It's also getting old and tired. Give it a rest.

he apparently did a 180 not because of any moral stance, but because he's working at being a yoga instructor/holistic healer and they frown upon it. thus, he's not afraid of taking drug tests anymore.
