I have been think again and I must be honest here this trent green saga is getting really old but i dont mind waiting for trent to be cutt ; its just insane that petterson is dicking us around ,so i think we should give Cleo a oportunity to show us if he can do the job and i think he can. here is how this season could go.
we could go 8-8 but we cant have more then one injury at wr or we will be done ,our depth here could detremin our season. we need our oline to play well , plus our runningbacks need to get it on and Cleo needs to start and if culpepper is healty he should be our #2 guy because i am not sure how his knee will hold up.
a 3 wr and a two tb set would be nice to see and we need to use these types of formations because our tight end corp is a big question mark .

I realize this may make no sense but rarely does anything i do make sense but i am sick of this trent green situation peterson is saying now he may trade brodie cyole and keep green and huard. my sources are accurate but if i told you all i would have to shoot you and i cant shoot you guys i would be bored to tears.

I think that's why he signed his tendered contract. He will be given an opportunity to win the job. If Culpepper doesn't get clearance from Dr. Andrews to participate in training camp, Lemon will find himself in competition with Beck and Hamden.

The longer it takes for Culpepper and Green to participate in training camp the better the chances of Lemon starting.:err::unsure:

There is no chance Cleo Lemon starts at QB for us week 1 unless Trent Green suffers an injury and Beck isnt ready or possibly having him injured too. Maybe if Green is sent to prison or something crazy like that. An available and healthy Green gives Lemon no chance and possibly the same if Beck is healthy and available too.

So you're saying that CP is now saying that he'll be willing to trade Croyle and keep a journeyman and 37 year old QB?

Starting Cleo Lemon for 16 games is a serious option. Right now, as things stand today, Daunte Culpepper is making a big mistake if he thinks that he's the starter by birthright, and that he doesn't have to earn his job away from Cleo Lemon.

Lemon is out there showing coaches exactly what they want to see, and what he has been good at showing them since he entered the league as a lowly UDFA that didn't have a ton of success coming out of his small school. He's showing them that he can take what they teach him, and put it onto the field during practice. Cameron gushed about him after that one mini camp and it wasn't something he did just to send a message anywhere.

Just about every time Cleo's gotten the opportunity to play in the NFL, from preseason on, he's played well and kept competing. The same was even true of his first start as a pro, against the Colts. He (with considerable help from Ronnie Brown) led our mickey mouse offense down the field for 5 field goals and 1 touchdown. If we had a REAL coordinator, any of those 5 field goals could have been touchdowns instead. His personal contribution was not what it needed to be, completing 50% of his passes with a 5.8 YPA...but it was the first time he got to play as a starter...and not for nothing but that Colts defense had turned a corner by that time and they accounted themselves pretty well in the playoffs.

With Cleo at the helm, Miami has a chance to win more than the 6 games they won a year ago with Joey at the helm. Of that, I'm certain.

Last year was a worst case scenario. The coaches tried Daunte out and he was obviously not healthy enough to run anything approaching a real NFL offense. We saw that in the Houston game...when we ran an offense that would have looked at home in Division 1-AA college football, not professional football. And I'm not talking about the overall success of the offense, I'm talking about its gimmick factor, what kinds of plays and formations you see called, etc.

There are a lot of things to criticize Nick Saban for. Among them would be having Joey Harrington continue to start even though Cleo Lemon could have won more games. It took a defensive line effort that I have rarely seen in my history of watching football to get us on that small winning streak we got on...Harrington was not a real help in that.

I believe this was because Nick Saban coached scared. Scared of losing and scared of the perception that his beloved scheme wasn't working as he preached it would.

I don't want to go into this debate anymore.

All I'll say is that If Lemon starts, it's a worst case scenario for the PHins. A worst case scenario that happens only from a failure to acquire Green and a failure of Culpeper to return and certainly NOT by plan.

I also feel were in for a very long year if it happens.
I just don't see the history nor the recent talent some others have seen in this guy.

If we could endure Joey Harrington for 11 games, why not try Lemon. You can always put in the "chosen one."

Whoever said we could endure it. I couldnt. I dont ever want a repeat of last year. Why are some of you insistant on us being mediocre at best for the next season? Youre acting as if because we are having somewhat of a youth movement that we have to just wash the next season out. Watching the trio of Culpepper, Harrington, and Lemon QB our team last year was miserable.

I dont want to settle on that and just live off "well were going to be good after a couple of seasons under Cam and Beck gets in there". Bring on Trent Green until he is ready. There is no guarentee that Green will make us winners but, its certainly better than settling on Lemon.

I just wish you could speak to Zach and JT candidly with no media around and run some of this stuff that gets posted by them. By stuff I mean the people who are convinced we cant make the playoffs this year or people suggesting that we should just settle on what we have at QB and if we dont win this year its not a big deal. Im sure it wouldnt sit well with those 2 guys who give their heart and soul to trying to make the team winners every year and still have nothing to show for it. I would say both of them would want out of here now if someone in charge of the team told them the FO and HC were content with being mediocre for now.

In this league you can make runs at titles while rebuilding your team. You have to really. You basically are rebuilding a little every year. Ask the patriots.

:yeahthat:Best post I've read all day

I've been reading these forums for a long time, but never post, but I feel compelled to say this...

Over the last several years, we've seen these very things posted on these very boards:

"Why not start Lucas?"
"Brian Griese is better"
"Feely should be starting instead of Fiedler"
"We'd be better if Harrington was starting"

....and every one of these guys got their shot. Every one of them failed to retain a starting roll. Now you want to try Lemon?

Man, I'm tired of running out 3rd stringers. We need a starting caliber QB, even it that means one that's over his prime. I would rather have a "has-been" than a "never-will-be."

Is Green really better? Why are the Chiefs getting rid of him? Just Start Beck. I think most people would agree with that. After all, he is the future franchise QB

Lemon played well enough at Indy to be given a chance. Marty S. was upset at loosing him to us when we traded Feely to SD. Using some of the same mytholgy coaches know better than fans regarding the draft then Marty a experienced NFL coach knows players better than any of us and if he was upset as he let on loosing Lemon. Marty S did "not" view Lemon as 3rd string material. The guy has not played that bad yet to say that!

It's acutually one of the worst but thats just my opinion as is his. If you read into his post he is discounting one probowler, who is on the team, with an injury question mark and praising another probowler, who is not on the team, also with an injury question mark and is close to century village status. really doesn't make any sense.
