Merged: Luck Calls "Suck for Luck" Campaigns Stupid

Why is everyone thinking he's talking about the fins this could be to any team in the S4L campaign brought on by nfl.com and espn so you can't say this is directly to the fins.

pro football is a business. players dont give a rats azz about us. they care about those paychecks.

True, but this is Andrew Luck . . . the guy passed on being #1 overall last year to go back to school. He isn't exactly hurting for funds . . . and I don't think you understand how rich and the power his father has. Believe it or not, he has more power than Archie Manning did when Eli went through his ordeal.

Sure the paychecks is a big incentive in the NFL, the biggest, but Andrew isn't exactly hurting either and maybe being comfortable is more important to him. A big reason Harbaugh didn't consider the Fins is because of the shady tactics of keeping Sparano on while searching for a coach. You don't think Luck could pull an Eli because he doesn't wanna go to a silly fanbase that kicks their team when they are down?

It Sounds silly until it happens.

The Fins are clearly one of the main teams in the media talking "S4L" . . . Luck is talking about teams in S4L . . . so he is talking to the Fins and every other team that is engaged in this silly campaign.

I honestly don't give a crap about the other teams, its OUR fanbase that is em-bare-assing.

We can't control the other teams. Time for OUR fanbase to step up and show some class. Root OUR current guys on like you expect them to win.
If they still fall short, at least we collectively tried.

Those of you that think the players ONLY play for a paycheck need to watch what happens when they score in Green Bay. That is a huge reason why players WILL opt to go there for a reduction. Its not all about money folks...winning, and even losing with class has lots to do with it.

funniest part of the video was at the end. " If dolphins got the first pick, they wouldnt know what do to with it anyway".

LOL

After reading many many pages of this thread. The only real disappointment I have is how this issue has so divided the fan base.

With so many factors playing into this uncertainty, it seems like we're truly set up for disappointment no matter how you look at it.

I guarantee this wouldn't be much of an issue if his last name was something that didn't rhyme with suck. Every losing teams' fans do this every year if they are at the bottom. If the end goal and the peak of happiness lies in making the playoffs then winning the super bowl, then logically speaking there isn't much to root for this year. And because this team isn't really full of rookies, you can't really amend the goal for this season to watching the youth develop and take their "lumps" (like Tampa Bay fans did). Besides the development of rookies every fan looks toward the next years' prospects and how they can make them better (GMs do too). IMO that is what makes the NFL better than the NBA. In the NBA, if you don't have Lebron James or Dwight Howard coming out of the draft but just a bunch of soft European players, the fans of the bottom teams have nothing to look forward to and that feeling of hopelessness kicks-in, which is the worst thing for that team because they likely will lose interest in the product and take their money elsewhere. What makes the NFL special is that all fans of teams have some hope of either getting to the super bowl this year or in the future by getting a really good prospect. Anytime you have that "once in a lifetime" prospect in any sport these "campaigns" to get the top pick will happen. If Luck wasn't in this draft all of you anti Suck for Luck people wouldn't care even if those same fans you are calling out move on to Barkley or L. Jones of OU.

Sidenote: What if in order to get the 1st pick it wasnt about record but you had to apply for it? Which team other than Miami would have a better application/resume of ineptitude lol?

I believe most of the fans are sensible and classy. They root for the Fins to win, understanding the players will play to the best of their capabilities. Those on the dark side rooting for SFL need to pipe down. My hope is that we win the game against NY and we can put all this pipe dream material to rest until after the season. Let show the NFL our team pride during our home games, even if our team lays an egg. We can be sure that there will be changes this year, that much is sure.

U know, I think a bigger factor in all of this is just we have only played 4 games. When a team is 1-12, then it would seem more reasonable but 0-4 seems kind of ridiculous to just tank a season . . . seriously . . . tank 12 games? Don't put up any effort against the Jets, Bills or Pats? Don't put our best foot forward on a Thanksgiving day game against Dallas? I mean I'm honestly chalking up all this S4L talk to frustration because I know people really don't mean some of the stuff they are implying right now. It's easier to become a Packers fan than root for your own team to lose. So what your a bandwagon jumper, atleast you aren't a ****ty fan.

You mean spending your hard earned money when you know for fact before hand that you will not be getting your money's worth. That's the definition of insanity. I think people place sports into a different category than just entertainment. I don't. And in this economy IMO, you shouldn't. There needs to be an analysis when you spend lots of money; even if it is just "am I getting something back for the money I am giving?" Going to a game is at least $100, parking is like $30-50, and food and beverages is ridiculous. With that thought, I know for a fact that the game won't be entertaining, but you would still advocate me spending my money anyway. Nope. You may think I'm not a fan. I call it being fiscally responsible and holding the team accountable for a crappy product. If I know I am going to make money no matter how crappy the product, what is my incentive to make it better. That's why I get mad at the idiots who get Madden every year and complain about how it is the same game with the same glitches. Don't get the GAME!!!! That's all they understand is the bottom line. I for one hope the stadium is half empty. That way I can get a ticket that matches the product.

The only entertaining game this year was the Pats game

How many 0-4 teams have made the playoffs? Point is 0-4 is almost equivalent to 1-12. And now we are down to a backup QB who couldnt beat out the average starter at QB. So basically we are not making the playoffs. The worst record in this league to me is 8-8 +/- 2 games. That's what we've been besides the R. Brown and J. Long drafts. I want competitive games but the reality is we suck.

It is not insanity to root for your players. It is insanity to root against your players. If you cannot afford the tickets, watch them on TV.
When the team has season tickets on sale, each Fan is calculating that the team will be entertaining and they shell out the clams. There are no guarantees that the team will be winning or losing, or your favorite players perform well or get injured.
The bottom line here is having the class not to boo the team when things go wrong, it is very demoralizing to the players and generalizes the south Florida fans to look like classless low life's. Just be a good sport and congratulate the winner.

i guess i'll just have to set the record straight...yet again...

andrew luck hasn't been dealing with mediocre at best qb play hell thats being kind and mediocre or worst year in and year out results since marino hung em up like us fans have...hell we were so brain washed clowns on this board thought ched pennington was a guy to lead us to the promised land...

andrew luck hasn't been dealing with a constant carousel of coaches who either quit jimmy johnson and nick saban were incompetent cam cameron tony sparano dave wannstedt like we have...

andrew luck hasn't been been dealing with constant bad decisions in the draft like we have as miami fans...

andrew luck hasn't been dealing with bad coordinator after bad coordinator and misuse of personnel like we have...

andrew luck didn't watch gibril wilson butcher free safety an entire season
or the signing of ernest wilford and jake grove...guys who were exactly in miami what they were in jax and oakland...not dependable...and thats just 3 names...there's a whole boatload of bad free agent signings...marc colombos playin the worst right tackle in football right now...and the way we've used reggie bush is laughable

andrew lucks not sitting at 0-4 with one of the worst olines in football and no damn chance this thing gets turned around this year...i don't care what you fan boys think this team can do this year its not gonna happen...we're done...4 games in done... so wrap your brains around it...

but the bottom line and why i find this whole you suck for luck t shirt guys got owned here (ie me...and i'm wearing one right now and to my buddies football party i'm headed to shortly for all 30 people in attendance to know where i stand) is this wasn't about andrew luck in any way...my stand was to let ross know that as a fan base we aren't gonna take this anymore...not gonna continue to support crap...we need hope...andrew luck is that hope...

andrew luck said exactly what i would expect a competitor who's gonna be in the nfl here shortly would and should say...i don't blame him...but he hasn't walked in my shoes as a dolphins fan...he hasn't seen what i've seen...and dealt with what i've dealt with...

i do have one thing to say to andrew luck and his pops though...if by chance we do finish with the top pick (which despite vaarks current campaign of its a "pipe dream" if you look at our remaining schedule its possible very much so...and as long as this team keeps hangin checks in the loss column it will remain so) i don't care if you threaten to give up football and decide you want to pursue something else in your life if you enter your name in the draft period you're a miami dolphin...by rights at least...so if you want to play in 2012 we land that top pick you will play in aqua and orange or nothing else...

b/t nice try though getting one up on me fellas...you fail yet again

Actually, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Which is exactly what you and several others are doing. You continue to root for Chad Henne and mediocrity. You deserve it.
