Merged Many Times: Sign Jevon Kearse or Trade for Vilma

Jevon Kearse was good his rookie year. That was it. He hasn't had a glimpse of success since then.
 
Should we deal with the Jets?

LB J. Vilma and DT D.Robertson are on the trading block... both good proven young players (25 and 26 respectively). Injuries and pay are a concern, but for the right price maybe? I mean it might be unrealisitic and why would the Jets deal with us?... but im just throwing it out there... what do u think?
 
I usually read and don't post, but I was talking to someone today that said Vilma was in contact with the Lions. Take what you may of it but Rodgers might be on his way to the Jets?
 
I'm pretty sure that the Vilma deal is straight up for a pick, I don't think that it's a player swap.

I would love to bring Robertson in, but the chances seem slim that they'd trade him within the division. I also am not sure that he fits what we want in a DT nearly as well as Shaun Rogers would because of his size.
 
I dont want either. Word on Vilma is he is a strict 4-3 guy, hes struggled mightily with the 3-4. Assuming we are putting in that D, he just wont be a good fit.
And Robertson is OK, but really not worth a draft pick imo.
 
Neither is a good fit for the 3-4 which is why they are on the block.
 
Trade Jason Taylor for D.J. Williams

DJ would be the former Hurricane LB I would be eyeing, he can see over the whole field , drop back and defend. I'd like to make it happen . Also I'd like to see us make a trade with Atlanta and pickup an xtra 3rd rounder, then take Darren Mcfadden only to trade him to dallas for pick 22 and 28 and Barber . Take our chances Otah might be there with the pick 22 or 28 and sign Free agent LB Briggs and WR Andre Davis.
 
The best linebacking corp in the NFL, LOLB Channing Crowder, LILB Shawn Briggs, RILB D.J. Williams and ROLB Joey Porter. LB'ers help your D-Line and Secondary. I'd build from the middle. Parcells always had strong linebackers in NY, guys like LT, Banks, Carson, Reasons etc..that right there was one tough LB corp.
 
I feel bad for jets LMAO sike! their front office is very silly. You have gotta be kidding they have a talented 4-3 linebacker, they also have David Harris who could be a beast outside and inside. All they have to do was Sign Justin Smith, draft a TOP DT to team with Dwayne Robertson and get Asante and they would have a top notch 4-3 Defense. Yet they are desperately trying to change to a 3-4.

Ask yourself why they are trading them and that will answer your question. Robertson is to small and struggled in the 3-4 that Mangini is trying to install, Vilma struggled playing in the 3-4 (much better suited for 4-3)

What are we going to be trying ti implement? Yes the 3-4

They never should have switche from the 4-3 as our best players were young anf 4-3 players but they did and in the 2nd half of last year the D was pretty good. I think we'll get Rogers or Jenkins in the middle up front, a corner opposite Dyson and our D will be very good. Harris was great as a rookie, we have 2 stars in the making in the secondary and some good complimentary players. I HATE losing talent like Vilma and Robertson but I am excited about what our D will look like in '08.

How many Vilma threads there are! We've beat this to death. HE IS NOT A GOOD FIT HERE. HE CANNOT PLAY IN A 3-4 DEFENSE AND THEREFORE WILL HURT US MORE THAN HELP US. Not to mention how overrated the guy is.

But he gets alot of tackles? I thought that is what we use to judge good LBs?:D
 
yeah, no thanks. both are 4-3 guys. why release thomas and pick up vilma?
