MERGED: Marshall playing for worst QB of career? Really??

reason why they killed henne in stats last year-
1.henne had next to none practice with first team
2.henne didnt play two and a half games
3.we ran the ball way more than denver and chicago
4.they had better recieving cores(cutler had hester knox bennet and olsen)

even marshall faulk thinks chad henne is marshalls best qb so far. Henne showed all he needed was a number one and he got it.
henne and marshall are going to make each other better. without marshall orton is gonna stink it up this year.
henne is the better qb but not by far. orton sucks

I agree completely... basically how Skip Bayless makes his living.

Henne may be the next coming of Dan Marino in skills but would never ever ever be a top 10 QB with the Trifecta running the show. It is about balanced power football. I loved Dan (man, my posts are really not sounding too manly tonight) but if you could shut down Marino's passing attack it was game over (now that was hard to do but he didn't win every game, did he?).

SIP wants a team that will beat the snot out of you all game long. Run the ball, pass the ball, run the ball some more. Run some Wildcat just to mess with their minds and ruin their practices. The running game and passing game this year will feed off each other, just watch. I hope Henne's been working on his play action because it will be there for him. But in the end Sparano wants a team that, once in the lead, will hold the running game pillow over the face of the opponent until they stop moving and start watching film on their next opponent. That will not mean much yards for Henne as some other QBs but (I hope) mean more wins for the Fins.

Are you guys serious? Do you play fantasy football at all? I'm talking for money, not for free. I'm a dolphin fan, and my heart says Henne all the way... but if I've got $50 on the line I'm taking Cutler every day of the week. He had next to nothing for an o-line last year, and questionable WR's, and still was #15 OVERALL in points in my league last year. Orton was #30 overall... Henne was #95 overall.

Here's how the ratings went in my league last year (2009 stats)

Cutler 3666 yards 27 TDs - 292 fantasy points
Orton 3800 yards 21 TDs - 268 fantasy points
Henne 2878 yards 12 TDs - 187 fantasy points

Yeah, that's right, I was shocked too... Orton nearly doubled up Henne in TD's. Now... Orton looses Marshall this year and Henne gets him, so Henne SHOULD be able to make a huge leap. I'd take Henne for sure if it were between him and Orton... based on what I think will happen this year. Henne has a MUCH larger upside than Orton, however... up until week 1 of this season, what that guy said in the article is correct... statistically speaking, Henne is the worst QB Marshall will have had. At the end of the season I really hope we can say differently. Sad part is, the money for my league is due week 1, not week 17.

Don't use fantasy stats to justify a point. Denver went 12 deep into the RB depth chart last season. Forte rolled up and died to a point they signed Chester Taylor. Both of those teams HAD to throw. Henne was protected be Brown and WIlliams in the early part of the season, and looked damn good when they opened up down the stretch.

Presonally, I believe he meant the worst statistical QB that he's ever played with. Henne has only played one season.

Sirspud - Marshall was sat down by McDonalds in an absolutely brilliant coaching move

I'm well aware of that. You don't think Marshall's absolutely terrible attitude there had something to do with it?

I'm hoping Marshall can be a better team player here, and I think he can, but even he would probably admit now that while he may have felt his situation was crappy, his behavior there was absolutely ridiculous at times.

Orton doesn't deserve to be entirely blamed for the offense that was in disarray because of the discontentment of players like Marshall, which was a problem before he ever got there.

As a fantasy QB, Cutler might have been great. As a real life QB, he was absolutely terrible. I don't really buy the struggles were because of the team around him argument, the Bears have some receivers that are born to run downfield and Cutler threw the ball to the defense more in some games than he got it to them. I watched pretty much all his games, being that my dad is a major Bears fan, and there simply was no putting Cutler's mistakes on anyone but himself.

Cutler is not a winning quarterback and hasn't ever been despite his obvious talent. He fails at the critical aspect of knowing how to take care of the ball, of not making the fatal mistakes, and of being able to turn his scoring ability into consistency and good game management.

Marshalls benching had more to do with mcdonalds ego than his attitude problem. Cutler, marshall, scheffler, nolan all exit denver related to the boy blunders ego..
you prove my point that orton is an overrated front runner and without marshall he absolutely crumbles and channels a jay fielder low light reel

While this is fantasy news, I figured it might spark some debate on whether or not one agrees Marshall is playing with the worst QB of his career. Basically Barnwell is saying....Orton>Henne

Discuss amongst yourselves

RIGHT NOW I'd take Orton who is a steady, solid pro. As far as potential I think then you'd take henne but if you were going into 2010 Orton is the better QB. Before I get attacked that is not a shot at henne, I happen to like orton but I do think henne has the chance to be alot better than Orton but as of today I would take orton.

Um....really? 'Don't use fantasy stats to justify a point'... that point being, agreeing with what a guy said in an article rating fantasy football QB's? The article specifically is ABOUT fantasy football, and you're telling me not to use those stats, or real stats for that matter, to compare them? What should I use then... wonderlic scores? shoe sizes? honestly. The argument not to use stats to compare one QB vs. the other in a league that gives points based on stats is silly.

Notice I agreed Henne has much more up-side than Orton. I agree Henne looked good and I think he will be better than both of the other options... but up to this point, nothing said in the article is incorrect. Statistically Henne is the worst of the 3. Potential wise is another story thankfully! Again, he's got Marshall this year too, so we should see a big jump.

From ESPN AFC East blog.

Barnwell writes:
People are underestimating the contextual shift for Marshall. He's playing with the worst quarterback of his career now (although this changes if Chad Pennington ends up with the starting job at some point during the year). He's on a team that runs the ball a large percentage of the time, and he's in a division with the league's toughest group of pass defenses. There just aren't 165 targets in the hopper.
:puke:

Come on guys, read the article! It is specifically ABOUT fantasy football. I don't care if QB1 is a crybaby or QB2 is a talentless turd who got lucky a year or two... in fantasy football STATS = WINS. Would you guys also be drafting Matt Stafford or Sam Bradford before Peyton Manning at nubmer 10 overall based on 'potential' assuming all you have to go on is stats for this upcomming year? I sure wouldn't.... 5 years down the road maybe when they have proven themselves, but not now.

As a fin fan, I hope Henne runs the tables and throws for 40 TD's and is a top 5 QB... but until that happens, Cutler and Orton have proven they can put up better stats, regardless of talent level. AGAIN though... this year should be a different story, and maybe after week 5 or 7 Henne will have proven this guy wrong.

OK, so you would take Orton over Henne this year?
