MERGED: Marshall playing for worst QB of career? Really??

too much ignorance in here. It's a legitimate opinion.

I will bump this at the end of the season/mid-season.

thats an idiotic way to justify fantasy picks. all it means is either the rankings are wrong or the drafters are wrong, doesnt tell anything about what a player is going to do in a season. And on the worst QB thing, i really dont care. When Henne has a better year than Cutler this year, everyone will know how good of a QB henne is.

As a fantasy QB, Cutler might have been great. As a real life QB, he was absolutely terrible. I don't really buy the struggles were because of the team around him argument, the Bears have some receivers that are born to run downfield and Cutler threw the ball to the defense more in some games than he got it to them. I watched pretty much all his games, being that my dad is a major Bears fan, and there simply was no putting Cutler's mistakes on anyone but himself.

Cutler is not a winning quarterback and hasn't ever been despite his obvious talent. He fails at the critical aspect of knowing how to take care of the ball, of not making the fatal mistakes, and of being able to turn his scoring ability into consistency and good game management.

Brilliantly put. Cutler has yet to have a winning season in this league(2-3, 7-9, 8-8, 7-9) and was absolutely dismal last season, handing the other team wins by continuesly making the same mistakes over and over again. Say what you will about Orton compared to Henne. Personally, i am a Orton fan and believe he will have a great year this season. But to suggest that the interception and excuse making machine in Chicago is superior to Henne is a joke.

The articles suggests that Henne will play horrible enough to get benched. Id be shocked if that happened. While i have little doubt that Henne will struggle from time to time, i seriously doubt it will be to the level of Cutler, who had a pick almost every week(only games he didn't were against the Steelers, Rams, and Detroit twice).

This story is viewing strictly stats as the basis for the statement that Marshall is playing with the worst QB of his career. It's obvious most don't know much about Henne since he wasn't on TV much and we didn't make the playoffs. Henne is still an unknown quantity and his stats, on paper, don't look impressive.

However, this does remind me of a fantasy football magazine that said Randy Moss was in the twilight of his career and no longer had the speed to get open downfield and wasn't much of a fantasy option any more...all this right after he was traded to the Patriots and proceeded to light it up and break the NFL single season record for TD receptions. Until the games are played and a trend is formed all this talk is pure speculation and hearsay.

How did Brandon Marshall fare?

He didn't play in that game. Down the stretch in the 3 games he played in before that game he was great.

36 receptions for 312 yards and 3 TD's

The Broncos lost the last 4 games by giving up over 30 points a game on defense. It didn't have much to do with Orton and Marshall. Orton was on the positive side for those 4 games with 7 TD's 5 Picks and over 275 yards per game.

I liken it to Henne's 4 games vs Ohio State in college. He didn't play poorly but with the defense giving up over 30 points per game you have to almost be perfect.

I think Barnwell needs to meet my Louisville slugger. He's probably right about the amount of time Marshall is going to be targetted. Other than that dude's an A$$HAT. Regardless of the oh so amazing pass defenses in the league and I assume he's talking about the Jets, I guess ESPN has wet dreams about them now, he's still going to open up the run and the other recievers/tight ends. But because of all that he may not be a great fantasy pick, but it has nothing to do with Henne.

I'm sorry but without Marshal to throw to Cutler became extraordinarily average posting his worst season rating. With Marshal Orton posted his best season as a QB and his best season.

The common denominator is Marshal not the QB play. Henne had a 75.2 QB rating last season Orton had a 71.1 career rating before he got to throw to Marshal. Cutler had an 87.5 QB rating while playing with Marshal and surprise a 76.8 the one season he didn't have a true number one.

Henne is not the worst QB Marshal has ever played with.

I think he can be behind this OL with his new weapon and two great backs with good hands as well as 2 TEs with good hands, sure. If not top 5 he won't be far off. Hell everybody on our team has good hands, all he has to do is make the right reads and find his guys, and if all else fails throw it up to Marshall, or even Hartline.

Are you guys serious? Do you play fantasy football at all? I'm talking for money, not for free. I'm a dolphin fan, and my heart says Henne all the way... but if I've got $50 on the line I'm taking Cutler every day of the week. He had next to nothing for an o-line last year, and questionable WR's, and still was #15 OVERALL in points in my league last year. Orton was #30 overall... Henne was #95 overall.

Here's how the ratings went in my league last year (2009 stats)

Cutler 3666 yards 27 TDs - 292 fantasy points
Orton 3800 yards 21 TDs - 268 fantasy points
Henne 2878 yards 12 TDs - 187 fantasy points

Yeah, that's right, I was shocked too... Orton nearly doubled up Henne in TD's. Now... Orton looses Marshall this year and Henne gets him, so Henne SHOULD be able to make a huge leap. I'd take Henne for sure if it were between him and Orton... based on what I think will happen this year. Henne has a MUCH larger upside than Orton, however... up until week 1 of this season, what that guy said in the article is correct... statistically speaking, Henne is the worst QB Marshall will have had. At the end of the season I really hope we can say differently. Sad part is, the money for my league is due week 1, not week 17.

If that guy had done his homework, he would have seen that on top of Henne starting later then those two, he also had fewer games early where they allowed him to throw freely and often (Why would you w/ the RBs Miami had compared to the Receivers), but once they had no choice with Ricky wearing down, and no Ronnie, in 5 games at the end, he had 3-300 yard games and there was a good possibility he could have gotten a 4th against the Steelers considering he had 140 in less then a half.

Since Marino there hasn't been a QB that had played for Miami that had put up good fantasy numbers on a consistent basis.....until Henne proves it, people will keep being non-believers....which is fine, because I plan of drafting Henne as my #2 Fantasy QB on my Keeper/Dynasty League that I have been in the last 9 years....

wow, 300 yards passing on 52 attempts is great. once he started throwing more his interception percentage went way up. 4 picks in his first 230 passes and 10 in his last 230. henne is probably the most overrated dolphin player right now. and people make fun of pennington who dinks and dunks. Henne does the same thing, except he isn't as good. he was like 9 for 42 on passes where he threw it in the air 20+ yards from scrimmage.

Cutler and Orton both > Henne to this point of their careers. In fact Pennington (most accurate passer in NFL history and, I think, 10th best career QB rating in NFL history) > than all three to this point. But you look at more than whats happened in the past when judging who you want to start. I'll take Henne, based on potential, over Pennington, Cutler, or Orton right now. But if he doesn't step up and deliver I'll be one of the first to request a change. A great football mind (Pennington) once said about potential: " When everyone starts talking about your potential that just means you haven't done anything yet."
