Merged: Matt Flynn to Seattle

Of course. He was brought in because our FO believed he was the guy. They believed he was better than what we had otherwise they would never of brought him here. If he signed here it would of been as the starter. So we either didnt offer a deal that was reasonable for an nfl starter or he chose Seattle because he preferred it there. Man, the apologists are becoming much worse than the doom and gloomers. All rational thought is clouded with them

I've stated over and over what I think, based on multiple reports the Dolphins low balled Flynn. You want ignore that, it's a free country, enjoy.

You'll notice that when I responded to your post, it was a basic, non-incendiary discussion. I responded in like to your reasonable response. His on the other hand deserved it's own like response. Then you go and ruin it...

That being said, isn't exactly what you are doing in this post whining and bitching about how others respond to the team's moves? No need to be a hypocrite. Any critical statement about the FO (and well deserved critical statement after 3 losing seasons) is considered "whining" and "crying" and it's ****ing ridiculous. Look, just because we don't want to give the FO a BJ after every decision like some, doesn't mean we're "whining" and "crying." If you don't want differing opinions, check else where. There are plenty of sites where homers circle jerk to every move the team makes. If you want to have discussions about the team as you and I were just in the posts before, then this is the place for you.

Look man, I'm not saying you can't be critical of the front office..I don't love them but I don't overreact at every move they make . Flynn obviously wasn't considered a franchise qb or even an upgrade over moore. If philbin thought he was he would've gotten flynn, there's no way ireland doesn't go get flynn if philbin is telling him he's a potential franchise qb. Miami offered him what they were willing to pay for him and he went to the highest bidder, its that simple.

also, I have nothing wrong with differing opinions, I love a good debate/discussion with actual thought behind it. All the jeff ireland posts have nothing to it its the same thing over and over, the fo didn't do what they wanted so the guy sucks blah blah blah its the same thing in every thread. I'm not telling anyone how to think but I think the whining and crying is obnoxious, everyone needs to make their own fire jeff ireland thread because the 3 already created weren't good enough to post the same thing in. There's a difference between expressing your negative opinion of something and being a whiny b*tch. There's some people here who will never be happy with anything who do nothing but complain all day everyday.

But for you to say people who don't agree with you aren't as knowledgable about football is laughable.

Lol. And if you believe that I got a couple of bridges to sell you. Flynn was looking to be a starter. Not compete for a job. That's why very few teams had interest in him. Because he wanted to start. Our FO knew this. If they thought that we're bringing him in to compete for the job at a cheap salary, they never would of brought him in because Flynn would never agree to those stipulations. But I guess you can pick and choose which reports you want to believe as it fits your agenda

Yup, that's why he went to Seattle.

Just spoke to my buddy in Seattle. He's not thrilled with the signing. Thinks that Miami's decision not to offer Flynn more money is a big red flag. Always interesting to see how the other side sees it. He told me that a lot of Seahawks fans are very lukewarm on the Flynn signing and have serious concerns about the way Miami just sort of shrugged their shoulders over the guy.

He also offered me preemptive condolences on A. Smith. :|

Same group of people always defend the front office and don't mind the mediocrity...It's shocking...

Back off there captain america.

I doubt anyone defending the FO is comfortable with losing. Just because some ppl respect what these guys do, doesn't mean anyone is comfortable with losing. In fact, the thought process is insulting.

Who's ignoring that they lowballed him. I said that was one of two likely possibilities. What I find as an egregious show of ineptitude is that they would lowball a guy that they saw as a legitimate nfl starter and as in upgrade to a qb starved team.

Lol. No. If he signed with Miami it would of been as the starter. But feel free to ignore common sense and rational thought if it conflicts with your agenda. It's a free country

Apparently not, look for Flynn's fathers quote regarding what took place.

“They had a difference in evaluation as to his value,” Flynn’s father, Alvin, said of the Dolphins and Seahawks. “We have so much respect for [Dolphins coach] Joe Philbin. But it obviously didn’t work out. He’s excited that it’s done.”

We turned him down

This is getting silly. I'm not assuming Philbin thought that highly of him. Again, based on what actually took place, and what Flynn's father said seems to support my POV.

So, you seriously think he'll be "competing for the starting job" in Seattle? Please.

Note, I don't think that's a good thing. I've said mult. times, including before he signed with Seattle, that I didn't see the point in bringing him in when we have essentially the same (a backup that they are trying to turn into a starter) in Moore, without the multi-year commitment. I feel the same regarding Alex Smith, who I don't see as much, if any better than Moore. But I guarantee that if we bring in Smith, especially for the money it will take to get him here, that he'll be the starter; regardless of whether it's warranted or not. That's how this business works. These aren't high school tryouts where the competition is open (hell, it's not even open then).

Isn't that what Seattle said in their blurb that he was going to compete with Jackson?

So I am being objective and fair by looking at this situation honestly....

and suddenly that makes me a "aqua and orange glasses" homer? hahaha.

Flynn thought he was worth 9 mil per season. The Dolphins did not. So he went to SEA. We are the ones who turned him down, not the other way around.

That's how I read that, yeah. The Flynn situation does not bother me at all, it's the A. Smith / D. Garrard part that scares me.

Pete Carrol has a strong eye for QB's so naturally this was a big mistake, afterall he let M.Hasselbeck go and replaced him with T.Jackson and traded for C.Whitehorse (who re-signed with SD), now he "out bids" us for M.Flynn.

I realize this is very difficult for a lot of you, if Philbin really thought he was a franchise QB they would have signed him, period. They offered him a contract that would have given him a chance at starting because he knows the WCO, just as A.Smith does, both players would have an advantage over M.Moore because of the system. It does not mean they thought he was a franchise QB, they would have given him more then Seattle, but lets bash Ireland because that makes more sense!

It is silly. It's silly that you think that this franchise would bring Flynn in to compete knowing that Flynn was going to a team as a starter and not to compete. They never would of invited Flynn down here if they thought he was a guy to compete with Matt Moore. It's simple logic. Why bring a guy in for a look if you know he would never accept your stipulations. It makes no sense. But you keep hanging on a few PR words that his dad made if it keeps helping you convince yourself of irrational things
