Merged: Matt Flynn to Seattle

As far as the Long thing, he decides when he plays and doesn't, let's be real, ok. Plus you'd have to get Sprano to go along with that, and the guy knew he was fighting for his job ever since Ross went to visit Harbaugh. You cannot influence games like that in the NFL, for multiple reasons. As much as I agree I'd like to have gone 1-15, I wouldn't like to hear the team threw in the towel.

The player decides when he plays and when he doesn't?

That right there is what's wrong with this franchise, then.

the fact these dopes are bringing in david garrards corpse tells me this thing has gone belly up...

Tough you are going to hear it.

There's no way Ireland hired Philbin to ignore him months later on a QB Philbin had intimate knowledge of. Sorry 2+2=4, not 14. If they thought he was a starter, they would have offered him starters money.

Wrong. There are many reasons why they would lowball him independent of whether they thought he was he answer or not. It could of very easily been a negotiating ploy that blew up in his face

Only if you remove Philbin from the equation. With him in it, you are asking me to believe Ireland is ignoring a man he recently hired. Sorry, makes no sense.

Jake long is not just a player, he's the franchise player.

ohall unless you can point me in the direction of the actual offer we made to flynn your just floating bs sayin we only offered backup money...

Nice generalization. I've actually defended Ireland more than most and don't hate him. I actually look at last year as being the first full year in being able to give a legitimate evaluation. I've praised the last drat and the trade for bush before he ran wild. So don't label people you don't know about. But I actually look to be objective and will be critical if warranted.

I also never said Ireland ignored philibins evaluation of Flynn. I find your assumption that we lowballed simply because we felt that was his value laughable. Like I said, I look to be objective and will praise and criticize where it's warranted. Im sorry I can't say the same for you. Funny how almost man for man, minus some independent thinkers, the Ireland apologists are also the anti suck for luckers. Yeah. No agenda there

lol dude, there is no spin here. If Philbin thought Flynn was a starter, he would have told Ireland. What you are asking me to believe is Ireland took that opinion and basically ignored it. Sorry, again, it makes no sense. He could have hired a yes man. Why hire someone if you aren't going to listen to their opinion, especially when that person has intimate knowledge of the player?

I'll go even, further again, I'm certain they had detailed conversations before Philbin was hired about Flynn and what Philbin thought of him. No, sorry, makes no sense.

So you are saying the MULTIPLE reports that the Dolphins low balled Flynn is a lie?

OK, then.

It's also not true. Coaches and doctors decide for the most part.

Hmm, most part? Would those not so most parts involve franchise players like Long?

Ya...

And what your asking me to believe is that after knowing that Flynn was looking to be a starter and get paid starter money, that we would still bring him in and offer him a job to compete with Moore, lowball him and actually think that he might accept those stipulations. If you think it was just us doing our due dilligence in a lost cause than maybe Ireland is just smarter than every other gm since he was the only one to partake in that endeavor

Jake long is not just a player, he's the franchise player.

When a left tackle is your franchise player, then the organization has not done their job.

low ball doesn't mean non starter money brainiac...it just means that we weren't willing to meet his price...or likely the almost $9 mil per the seahawks were willing to pony up...and until i see the actual offer i'm not taking your word on anything given what i'm reading you put out there in this thread...

i just read matt hassellbeck is a consideration also for us...great...that corpse pulls ass muscles just coming away from center...this just keeps getting worse by the second

Eh. I said back in November when I thought we might get a top 5 pick, that we should draft Blackmon and weeden. I guess I gotta stick to my guns and hope for Floyd and weeden or maybe keuchly and weeden

This organization has never been afraid to spend money. If Philbin really wanted him we would have got him and not been out bid. I think Kevin Kolb has alot to do with us not wanting to pay big money. Philbin coached Rodgers and Flynn (7th round pick). Im sure he wants to draft a quarterback to coach up. Jim Harbaugh stuck with Alex Smith last year and it worked out pretty well. Every 49er fan sounded like alot of you on this board. Predicting doom and gloom last year.
