In case anyone thinks what Mel Kiper says means anything. Mel put out his new grades for the 2009 draft after almost one season. His grade for Miami does go up a little but still seems low.

Miami Dolphins (Spring grade: C-)
You get two starting corners and you should be happy, right? Well, in Vontae Davis and Sean Smith (Rounds 1 and 3, respectively) Miami gets good players with low ceilings. The real disappointment that lingers is the Pat White pick at No. 44. I said then he had to play WR for this to be of any value, and they appear no closer to solving the issue. You can still land serious impact at that draft spot, and this could be a total waste based on their direction now. Oddly, Hartline bumps this, as he may be a decent late value.
Current grade: B-

Take a look at the Jets current draft grades now for a laugh.

New York Jets (Spring grade: A-)
They had only three picks, but I had them high because they moved decisively and landed a guy I thought we be their franchise QB. Mark Sanchez has had his struggles, but there's no question this is his team -- and there's massive value in that. Shonn Greene has been good, and looks like a fit to follow Thomas Jones as the feature back. The future is bright in N.Y., and this draft is a reason. Grade drops just a tad: good picks, really low volume.
Current grade: B+

FYI he gives the Pats an A- and the Bills a B. You need to be an insider to see the whole article.

I've never cared for Mel Kiper, I think it's all a crapshoot and all of the so called draft experts had a man crush on sanchez

He's just mad that he was wrong when he said we should have drafted Ryan instead of Long and Henne.

He also doesn't give us any props on Clemon's or Gardner either. Both of whom I feel with be solid contributors in the future.

Just the fact that the guy has grades back when the draft happened that are "altered" now at the end of the season should tell you guys not to pay attention to any of it, good or bad. If he's wrong then or now it shows his opinion means nothing.

It's all just filler and a hobby for some to waste time on.

What a tool, Davis has significant upside. Who knows if he'll ever reach it, but he's extremely athletic, is a very good tackler and has already shown playmaking ability. I agree with the Pat White pick, as I was never a fan of the pick, but calling Hartline "decent" value is selling that pick short.

He's a pompous poseur whose ego can't admit when he's wrong. As several unbiased outside studies looking back at the results of draft gurus picks have concluded, he may be more accurate than some but is less accurate than a bunch of others include Mayock. He's like the guy who once invented the primative air conditioner window box and now is trying to take credit for central air. Personally, I take what he says with a grain of salt.

I love how the Jets draft a bottom five starting QB that is keeping them out of the playoffs and get a higher grade than us.

Breed, I could give a **** about reputation. 90% of the fans on here are uneducated homers who blindly follow the team. Get a life.

I agree with that.....and I have a good rep

However, Vontae and Smith have shown promise as good young corners. For Mel to write them off as having low ceilings I do not agree with.

I also don't agree with the grade given to the jets.

I think a B- is generous. Smith hasn't shown any ability to pick off passes, vontae routinely gets torched, nalbone is a scrub, turner sucks, white sucks.

Part of the problem is that we had two rookie corners. If you have one rookie, you can tend to cheat the safety over to provide support. We couldn't do that because we had rookies on both sides...in addition, we have Gerbil as the safety support...enough said on that...
