Merged: MIAMI/DALLAS Relationship influence D.ANDERSON DEAL.

I would not mind that trade
Dallas would have traded Anderson and their other first-round pick - No. 22 overall, obtained from the Browns last year - to Miami for the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. The Cowboys then would select Arkansas running back Darren McFadden with that pick.
If they included a 2nd or 3rd for us.

Dallas would have traded 2 #1's and a 3rd, 1st and 3rd just to get Anderson.

Sort of. They would have traded their first round and their 3rd round to get Anderson and then trade Anderson to us for a swap of 1st round picks. So in a sense, we'd get Anderson (with a pretty big contract) and Dallas's other first round pick. Dallas gets the overall #1 pick and gives up both first round picks and their 3rd round pick and not only makes Cleveland very angry, but makes a LOT of other teams in the league unhappy and probably unwilling to deal with them in the future. All for the sake of Dallas and BP getting together to stick it to Cleveland because of their pick of Quinn last year ????? Talk about pretty far-fetched conspiracy theories!!! If that would put out on these boards by one of us, we'd get laughed off the site! Savage should just keep his mouth shut, because even if there was any hope fo this being true (which I doubt), it sounds like a crazy conspiracy theory to justify overpaying a QB who had one decent year for them. If he bombs, just wait for his next story of how BP and Dallas tricked him into keeping him when we really had no interest in him.

my point exactly!!.. its what i thought when i posted it up.. savage must be cenile or on drugs to come up with that conclusion...

Savage probably thinks that he needs to justify why he's paying so much money to 2 QBs.

Its a little far fetched but an interesting read none the less.
Dallas would have signed Anderson to a big contract and included a "poison pill," which would have made it impossible for the Browns to match the offer.
Dallas would have compensated the Browns with first- and third-round picks. They would be the Cowboys' original selections, No. 28 overall in both rounds.

If two firsts and a third (the first they would give in the supposed trade and the first and the third they would have to give up as compensation) wouldn't be enough to trade up with the 'Phins, why would a first and Anderson? I realize that even paranoid people have enemies, but I think Savage may have gone around the bend and off the deep end here... unless he's looking for an excuse to justify the signing a few years from now in case Anderson turns out to be a one-year wonder.

Before jumping to any conclusions like that, it needs to be remembered what our salary cap looks like. There is no way we could afford the contract of the #1 overall pick. W4e are six million under the cap, and we still need to sign ken hamlin and marion barber to long term deals. This won't happen. If anything, Jerry Jones could wait to trade up before the Raiders pick if he really wanted this to happen. It is pretty evident that Miami is gonna pick one of the longs. IMO, Jerry wouldnt NEED the number one pick to grab McFadden. Still, I doubt our salary cap could even hold a top ten pick. Not unless we have some major restructuring going on.
