new coach ideas

So lets hear from everyone who should the dolphins go after for our new coach next year.

Marino as HC in 2005?

Any chance Marino is our HC next year. Wayne seems to only hire people he knows and trusts. and marino would fit both those. Dan would probably relish the chance to follow wanny and succed where DW failed since DW forced his retirement. Marino would get in someones face when they messed up instead of just frowning at them like Wanny does. I know he has no experience but I dont think spielman had much experience before this year. Same with Foerester and Wayne didnt tell Wanny to make trestman the OC. I am not saying Dan will be the first guy we go after but if Saban rebuffs us and weis doesnt want the job.

Only if he is able to hire Charlie Weiss as his OC...

I don't know about Weiss ever leaving Belichick, especially if they make the playoffs again...

um, no. He is not coach material and I am sure Wayne will never give him a job after quiting the other job he got.

what about art kehoe? he is UMs o-line coach and has been the only link in all 5 of UMs titles. Also UM always produces good linemen during his tenure. and he seems to be able to turn guys into quality linemen even if they arent super-talented. Also he has a confident swagger

I don't know about that.
The guy knows how to lead. He absolutely kept ALL his players in check on offense. On leadership aspect alone I firmly believe he could outcoach Wanny right now.

X's and O's aspect of the game. It wasn't just Marino's arm that made him great. He was known to be one of the best at reading a defenses coverage scheme and was able to do it in a millisecond! I think it's fair to say he could develop a gameplan to take advantage of an opposing defense.

I think Marino does have the basic tools to become a good coach.

2 Reasons it will never happen.....

1) First off, You just don't start out as a HC. So Marino would never be offered the HC job for the Phins in 2005. He'd have to start as a position coach and work his way up the ranks. Your talking about years of commitment and learning.
What's his motivation? Marino just stepped down from a FO position because he did'nt want to give up time with his family.

2) Marino has a great job in broadcasting.
A job that allows him to still be attatched to the game of football while being able to have all the time he needs to see his kids grow up.

What are the chances we get.....

Eagles coach Andy Reid

This guy sure knows how to fire up a team....I heard he's on the hot seat (sorta like Dungy's situation when he was in Tampa)...I think with the team he has, he needs to make it to the SB this time, and anything short of that can cost him his job...I would love to have this guy as a coach next year, although i really doubt it would happened.

You dont thrust a guy with no coaching experience into the HC role....even if it is Dan Marino. If Dan wants to coach he should start out coaching what he knows best...quarterbacks. Then, if successful he could move to offensive coordinator. Then, after he has 3 or 4 years of successful experience, MAYBE he would be ready to be a head coach.
