S.o.s.!!!

Our secondary is bad, every week it's a new problem, inconsistent on offense and defense, undisciplined players on both sides of the ball. Ricky, Ronnie it doesn't matter YET, we have no offensive character and still a SOFT team defined by Dave Wannsted. UGHHHHH.....

New Topic: Jason Taylor and the new Defense

OK, this doesn't really come from this game alone, but just came to a head today with what we saw. Please tell me I am not the only one who cannot stand Jason's new role in this "new D". Jason is still a great player and leader on this team, but I think he needs to be put back at his normal end position and rush the passer. This isn't his fault, I know he is giving it his all...put come on, the guy was out covering Steve Smith in on the 2 yard line in the Carolina game when Smith scored

I don't want to hear this talk about his one play against Denver...give it some time...he's playing just as good. Because he isn't. We are getting NO pressure on quarterbacks, we plays a key to our TERRIBLE secondary, which plays a key to our HORRIBLE ability to give up constant 3rd down conversions.

Put Jason back at his normal damn position and throw Spragan/Seau/Crowder in his spot. Hell, I even think Jason Glen could perform out there by his play in preseason. Jason needs to get back to his roots...period!

I was thinking something along those lines. Our line has been doing well against the run, but against the pass the QB is just getting all the time in the world.

And for the record....I also must say I really dislike this new defense. We have many quality veterans and we are still not that good. Our blitzes are ineffective 90% of the time and if you even look at the formation prior to plays I just don't like where our players are placed. Middle of the field is too wide open. There are no linebackers but maybe one their to cover it.

I'm not going to even go into how Galloway, Smith, Moulds, Chrebet/Coles were able to constantly do slants/ins. No adjustments made or anything. A couple I can understand, but I think they could do it 2 out of 3 plays every time if they really wanted to.

No pass rush

Defensively,we had absolutely NO pass rush. Other than the Carter sack and Zach's sack on the blitz, we put no pressure on the QB. They had all day to throw the ball. Our front 4 was supposed to be our biggest defensive strength but they did very little today. With a secondary do devoid of talent, our defensive line HAS to get in the QBs face much more consistently.

alrighty then...so people dont' want to talk about actual football logic....just ***** about constant things it seems.

True. All this whining is unreal. It's simple...we all know football starts with the offensive and defensive lines. Our lines didn't perform, we didn't win, that will not change until we improve. A little discipline wouldn't hurt either. Time to focus on the Chiefs.

I thought the Defense was ok... again stupid penalties is whats killing us....

Defense

I don't know about you guys but I don't like this D were running. On 3rd downs teams are picking us apart running quick slants. I beleive we should go back to our cover two in a 4-3. All that blitzing and packages Sabans D was suppose to bring simply isn't cutting it as far as stopping the pass. Were going to finish 32nd in the league at this rate.

43 passes and Gus cant complete half of them. What is your qb rating when you complete 21 out of 43 for 267 yards. 0 td 0 int. Fumble by Gus for a TD. The penalties are non stop. A Ricky WIlliams TD called back for a penalty. That was redicilous. I didnt see any block in the bck.

Again... Dubya tee eff. Are some of you people watching the same games as everyone else? He's got 3 sacks in 5 games, and has had several near-misses. He's on pace for 9 1/2 sacks, which is fairly solid. Not to mention the fact that virtually every season Jason Taylor doesnt make many sacks early on, and ends up usually having a 5+ sack December.

What the Dolphins are doing isnt hurting his effectiveness. It's helping it.

Our problems are stemming from starting a 4th round rookie CB and a bunch of mediocre street free agents. The Dolphins are not getting many sacks because of coverage at all. The majority of them have come from jailbreak DB blitzes, or Jason Taylor or Kevin Carter flat out beating their man straight away.

I'll just keep it short and sweet. For someone who tries to be a smart mouth with the "Dubya Tee Eff" comment...your about as blind as a damn bat watchign the game.

We have no defensive pass rush and I don't care what number of sacks JT has, he does not get any pressure on a constant basis nor is really providing the run support he use to because he is in all these half-arse positions. He needs to be put back to DE.

Actually, no. Jason Taylor is on pace for 86 total tackles(92 with projected sacks, which count as tackles), going by NFL.com stats. His career high is 70.

what happened to Miami's run Defense?

Come on now, they were doing pretty good only to be blown up by Pittman, come on now, pittman is good, but I can't imagine what Caddy would have done to Miami if he was playing two huge runs one for a TD, I think he had 129 yards for however many carries, I'm pretty sure he has a really good ypc average against Miami though.
