No, not CB, Nose Tackle in Round 1

QB-Nick Saban and Randy Mueller believe in finding a quarterback later in the draft, not in the first round. Think Saints, Aaron Brooks, Jake Delhoumme, Adrian McPherson-Saints took these guys in later rounds. Also, look at Saban's mentor, Bill Belichek, he got Tom Brady in round 5. As much as I'd love to have Jay Cutler, I don't think it will happen unless he falls to Round 2.

OT-Whitworth will be a Round 1 pick. He will not fall to Round 2.

CB-Saban originally drafted Daniels to be a safety-he is not fast and agile enough to be a CB. It's just that Poole got injured, so Daniels was kept at CB.

So, I have just said that we have three huge needs at QB, OT, and CB, and I believe these will be addressed in Rounds 2-4.

But, what we do in round 1 is draft a Nose Tackle. Our current nose tackle is going to 37 next year! Saban believes that you must stop the run. Last year, we were near the bottom in run defense. That was Saban's first priority in the offseason bringing in D lineman Kevin Carter, Vonnie Holliday, and Keith Traylor. This year our run D is near the top and that is why we have a successful Defense. Look at New England, they draft D-lineman in the first round, Richard Seymour, nose tackle Vince Wilfork. Saban will follow Bellichek's model. He will draft D-lineman. Remember in the 3-4, Manuel Wright is a DE, we dont have a nose tackle besides Traylor. We need a nose tackle, that is the heart of the 3-4. The reason for the Cowboys success in the 3-4, bringing in nose tackle Jason Ferguson. In games that we won this year, we stopped the run, and our opponents had long third downs.

In conclusion, we will draft, Haloti Ngata, the 345 pound nose tackle out of Oregon. There is one other Nose tackle available in Gabe Watson from Michigan, but he doesnt have the drive nor motor that Ngata has. So, where will be drafting in the 8-12 spots, Ngata will be the perfect fit.

the only way i see it happening is if manny wright isnt ready to play...which he should be...we could get a decent DT in the 3 or 4th round....but there are other issues we have to address first

This is a distinct possibility, I can easily see it happening. I too would like to see us draft Cutler, in round 2. As far as the QB's go, Brooks was acquired via trade from Green Bay and Mueller worked for ESPN when the Saints took McPherson.

We need more help at cb safety and LB than at DT.We drafted Vickerson and Manny Wright

im sure saban will keep our current Nose Tackle for one more year the way he is playin this season..

We need to draft CB's and a SS

Pick up a Qb in freeagents if not if the later roudns of the draft..

I would love to see Dante over here

Is Culpepper a FA?

siiiiiiike dante just signed a huge new contract, he's not a FA...we would only acquire him through trade

yea i think he will get cut by minnesota he hasnt played well this year and with his injury i think they might let him go if not trade him

First, they don't have the cap space to cut him. He just signed a huge contract last year with an enormous signing bonus that would be accelerated if he were cut. Second, he won't be healthy until next year, and unless they work out an injury settlement, he can't even be cut until at least this time next year.
Third....Don't see it happening...

I can see your logic, but I thought Ngata was supposed to be a 2nd or 3rd rounder?

Just like last year... we will take the Best player available that can fill a need on this team. We have a lot of holes. QB, Oline, DT, CB and Safety... heck I'd say a young quick WR too.

Dante won't even be able to practice till next season starts....

i dont think NT is big need. there is plenty of young talent on the team at DL. i cant imagine after drafting 3 DL last year, saban would draft another on a high pick.

vickerson was playing well and it seem like wright is coming along. i also expect to see Roth sliding in and playing DT, possibly an athletic NT if he bulks up to 300-310.

not every NT is 350 pounds and they dont need to be. a quick, athletic NT can be just as devastating, especially in the pass rush
