Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter was cited for misdemeanor battery Sunday after allegedly punching another NFL player in the face at a Las Vegas casino.

Porter had a brief altercation with Cincinnati Bengals left tackle Levi Jones while at a gaming table at the Palms Casino, Las Vegas Police Department spokesman Martin Wright said today. Wright said Jones, who chose to press charges, received on-site medical treatment for a small laceration. Jones also claimed several of his gold chains were stolen during the melee, Wright said.

Just read an article on this on yahoo sports. Pretty bummed out. Hopefully this doesnt cause too much of a problem. The article I read on yahoo sports also included mention of the possible punishment being a $1000 fine, or up to a year in jail. I doubt it will get that far... still isnt goodnews though. Quote and link to the yahoo sports article is below for more info...

Porter could face up to a year in jail and up to a $1,000 fine, Wright said, but no court date was immediately available.

JONES WUZ ROBBED?
Bengals tackle Levi Jones now claims that, during the Sunday night incident in which Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter allegedly beat him up, Jones also was robbed.
Per Bengals.com, some jewelry allegedly was stolen from Jones as part of the incident, and that as many as seven people (including Porter) were involved in the attack on Jones. (The whereabouts of Porters' dogs at the time of the incident are unknown.)
Porter showed up in Miami on Monday for the first day of the team's offseason strength and conditioning program.

 Sorry but this makes me laugh.

I'm supposed to believe that multi-millionaire Joey Porter had nothing better to do than beat up and rob Levi Jones?

There are a few things that should be obvious:

1) Levi and Porter either have past problems or Levi wasn't innocent in the event.

2) Joey Porter has better things to do than rob Levi for no reason.

3) I'm glad the first words are 'Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter.'

4) That if he did do it he should be punished for it.

Hes gonna get a fine and that will be it.. Time to move on this is petty crap.

Ya' know something, we need a player like this. We need some fire and a guy who won't take anything from any one. I understand he was wrong and I'm not defending his behavior at all, but I'm glad we got Joey Porter. His personality is that he won't take any crap off of any one and you better not make him mad.

I'm still trying to figure out when an NFL player reaches adulthood.

Just read that article. Next thing you know Levi is going to claim that Joey stole his wife/girlfriend during the altercation too.

When I first read the title to this thread I thought it was our chance to claim "repost" on Crunchtime haha. Guess he's too good for that :D

exactly what I was thinking. I don't condone his behaviour but for god's sake we need some fire on this team!!

exactly that i saw on the news tonight in pittsburgh, i guess the only good we can get out of this is that when he plays the teams of the AFC north that he will have great intensity

What are they saying?

It was Michael Smith talking about the NFL's image and how they are trying to crack down on off the field incidents. The host (I think it was Brian Kinney or whatever) asked if the NFL could take action on this. Smith replied "Absolutely." I don't believe that any action would be taken as far as suspensions because this is nothin compared to the Bengals actions or Pacman Jones recent troubles, but who knows. Probably just going to be a fine.
