MERGED: OK, who's the pick in round 2/Miami's 2nd round pick

For sure. I didn't even realize body Codys were still available. There are going to be some guaranteed reaches in the next 10 picks. I think one of the following will remain: Barnes (unlikely), Codys, Miller, Elton Brown (likely), Bullocks (would love it, but unlikely), Pool (unlikely).

Not to be intrusive , just passing along information .... albeit good info .

The top players left on Rick Gosselin's top 100 list after round one.

In order ....

Justin Miller cb/kr Clemson
Khalif Barnes ot Washington
Brodney Pool s Oklahoma

Matt Roth de Iowa
Reggie Brown wr Georgia
Shawn Cody dt USC
Vernand Morency rb Oklahoma St.
Jonathan Babineaux dt Iowa

No, the Ravens took him in the first round...his teammate, REggie Brown was just snatched up by Philly.

Man, I'm giddy. I keep switching my hopefuls for 6... now it's Khalif (long shot), Elton Brown, Dan Cody, or Josh Bullocks. Maybe Josh Miller, if he's available.

KHALIF BARNES. He's mid-first-round talent. Huge guy. Would fit in well on our mammoth line.

Who would take him? Detroit?

While he's very agile, he rarely displays the home run speed you'd expect from him.

no home run speed? what r u talking about? have u seen any of his games. he flies! he's not as fast as his former teamate Devon Hester, but he's pretty close and can beat out most of the leagues corner's.

While both the Codys would be pretty good value picks, I don't know if we wold hesitate drafting one of them because of our acquisitions of Vonnie Holiday, and Kevin Carter this offseason. I see Khalif Barnes as a very realistic possibility, but if he is available, I am confident we will take Justin Miller, out of Clemson.

miller is a corner eh? i dont really see a pressing need at corner like at linebacker/ safety... but at the same time i dont expect to see madison around for more than a year anyway.

Good point, I see what you're saying. I just think Miller presents better value with this pick than a linebacker or safety would. Also, with the Surtain trade, we have Poole and Howard at Corner alongside an aging Sam Madison. Poole and Howard are both relatively unproven, and IMO Miller would be an upgrade over them. Hard to tell what we're doing with this pick though, is QB out of the equation?
