MERGED: PFT and Florio hatchet job continues/No money for Dolphins?

What was really wrong with what they said. It just stated the Phins have done nothing in FA. The Phins didn't sign any of the FA'S they were linked to. Then went on to specualte on Parcells and Ross.

Nothing really bad or anti-Dolphin there unless I missed something

Jesus. Now Mike Florio is anti-Dolphins? One has to have a ton of blind faith in their team to read that story and think such a thing.

I don't think its anti-phins, just anti-intelligent. The speculation Ross is low on money and that is why we haven't overpaid people is just stupid. Since when has Parcells gone nuts in FA? He never has and never will.

I have never noticed a bias from PFT

they are usually on the right side with their value judgements

I think the part he is upset about is that basically Florio is saying that Ross is being cheap and Parcells could be getting upset and walk from the team.

When we were going to go after Jason Brown PFT said the Dolphins were tampering. When we signed Vernon Carey the judgement from them is that the dolphins spent too much money. For years, everything the fins do...is wrong according to PFT...If you haven't noticed, then you haven't been paying attention. Now, because we are not being aggressive in signing other free agents...Ross does haven't the money to pay contracts (Carey, Wilson, Bell, and Crowder) and Parcells is walking. Everything Florio writes about the Dolphins has a negative spin.

I've never noticed Florio being biased for or against any team either.

He is kind of a boy-scout though with that obsession with speeding tickets and any criminal offenses.

I always got the impression he was really more into gossip than football. It's a great site don't get me wrong...

Florio openly admits he hates all teams equally. My only gripe is that it's a tired point. Parcells will walk blah blah blah zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....
He's just looking for something to write about.
Best speculation is that Parcells is waiting for the prices to drop then the Dolphins, LIKE MANY OTHER SMART TEAMS, will move in for the players they want.
It must be tough for bloggers and reporters and radio hosts who live in the "must have it now" world of info to come up with stories when they're just aren't that many there. The NFL free agency period has become much duller in recent years with teams moving to sign their own guys and only filling holes with middle-range/bargain FA's. It's tough going for reporters.
At least D Snyder comes thru most of the time.

The whole cash strapped Ross idea has worried me from day one. Sure we dished out some cash to keep some key players, but right now we are no better than the team that got blown out by Baltimore in the playoffs. G.Wilson was a decent pick up, but he does not change the "status quo" position we are in right now. "Status quo" will not get it done next seaon. In order to take the next step, there has to be a talent infusion at some of our weak link positons and that all can not all come from this years draft. I realize that we don't want to mortgage the future, but some money is going to have to be spent in order to improve. I am sure that the trifecta has an improvement plan, but I hope that Ross's cash position is not altering that plan.

Nothing wrong until they speculated Ross not having money. The Fins just ponied up a boat lead of money to keep 3 guys and sign Wilson. They're about 15M under the cap. Maybe, they pick up a couple of more
solid young guys but that's it. Last year, they made two semi-big moves with Smiley and Wilford. I think they do they same this year.

you know , maybe I was wrong for my overreaction for not signing anyone but Nublar 7 has a point there and maybe this Ross character is sabatoging the front office . if this is the case then the dolphins just took another step in becoming the Lions South.
If this isnt the case then the dolphins are trying to build a team of third team players and will probally end up in a similar boat as the Lions . I sure hope we are not going to base this team on just players from the draft only .
I wonder though if we can aproach the f/a situation similar to the Packers or Steelers. I dont want us to do what Daniel Synder is doing by big spending , yet i would like us to at least get a wr and a cb through f/a or a trade and then draft for our week links. ( this is what i have been trying to say throough out my rants.
