I know alot of people say hes older but he is only 32. And a 3rd round pick is nothing for a player his caliber. At 32 he still ahs 3-4 years of productivity left in the tank. And the things he could teach our young WR is priceless. Here are his stats the last 3 years
2006--93 rec, 1188 yds, 10 TD
2007--93 rec, 1189 yds, 7 TD
2008--64 rec, 796 yds, 3 TD

Pretty good stats with Marc Bulger throwing you the ball. Bulger in 2008 threw for 11 TD and 13 INT. He completed 241-440 passes for a 57% completion rate. He only had 2720 yds. He is a garbage QB and doesnt use Holt to his complete ability. Bulger missed 4 games in 07 and Holt had Gus Frerotte throwing it to him. Holt had great stats with Warner throwing the ball to him and Martz running the show.He had better years with a decent QB.

He is def worth a 3rd round pick as its a late 3rd rounder. Maybe if they have no takers we throw a 4th at them to see if they bite. If not try a 4th and 7th. But if we ahve to I would have no problem giving them a 3rd round pick for a guy thats still capable of having a 100+ rec and 1000+ yds for a few more years. Torry can stretch the field and he doesnt care to go over the middle and get hammered. The guy never drops passes and is a team leader. The veteran that Ginn , Camm, and Bess need to show them how to become great

As far as age goes he is not that old. Chad Johnson is 31, TO is 35, Derrick Mason is 35, TJ Housmanzadeh is 31, Steve Smith is 29, Reggie Wayne is 30, Tony Gonzalez is 32, Donald Driver is 34, MOss is 31, Hines Ward is 32. All of these guys are over 30 except Smith and all had 1000+ yd recieving sesons. I think Torry Holt is a guy who will be able to produce until he is 36-37 yrs old. And Produce I mean 70+ rec, 1000+ yds. He is a great route runner with great hands and legit speed. He makes a team better and will help out the running game not allowing teams to stack the box. He will also help Ginn out as he will get less safety help. Plus Bess will get more catches with Holt Drawing a crowd. All in all I think a 3rd round pick for a 7 time Pro Bowl player with a few years left in the tank is pocket change.

Here are our 3rd round picks the last few years
2008- Kendall Langford-- Good pick
2007- Lorenzo Booker--Traded for Fasano and Ayodele
2006-Derek hagan
2005-Channing Crowder
2004-No pick
2003-Wade Smith,Taylor Whitley
2002-Seth McKinney

Langford could turn out to be a good player in Mia
Booker if not traded would be a wasted pick
Hagan well we all know about him
Crowder is good but not great and will prob walk in FA
The next three are all gone.
Now would you not say that our 3rd round picks have pretty much been bust except Langford and Crowder. Now would you not say ok to trading a late 3rd round pick for a proven WR in Holt. If Chad Johnson is there for a 3rd I say jump on it but Holt is the best player that can come in and start right away that you are going to get for a 3rd round pick

PFT seems to think that nobody will trade for those contracts

perhaps we could get Holt as a FA if we wait

if he gets cut before the FA period, he could be signed as a "street FA" right?

New guys making the pick now so who cares about Seth McKinnyey, Wade Smith, and Taylor Whitley. And like you said, Langford was a good pick. I'd much rather keep the pick and see what they can make of it rather than trade for an aging WR. Gotta be patient with this team to build it properly. Holt may help us for 2 or 3 seasons, by the time this team is ready to establish itself among the elite, Holt's gonna be way past his prime.

The Rams might end up doing what Miami did last year with some of the players. They would get a healthy cap relief by cutting Holt & Pace. They are under the cap by 14 million now. They have a new coach on the scene. They are a couple of seasons away from turning it around as a solid contender. Even if they make the playoffs this season, it will be a couple before they have enough talent to make a DEEP run into the playoffs. Miami is very similar to them in this aspect as well.

Holt has stated he wants to go back to his home state...(Panthers).

Pace has a better chance of them trading, but they would not get as much cap relief with a trade vs. cut.

If they cut both they would have about 28 million to spend. They could really beef up the team with a good draft and solid free agents.

Here is a link on the article that pointed it out.

Both are expected to be released so if we wait, we can sign Holt for less than $6 mil he is owed this year. The only problem with that is that Holt want to return to his native NC (Panthers).

Dear Bill Belichick,

Do it.

A 3rd for Tory Holt to be the #3 in the Patriots offense? I'd do that all day.

A 3rd round pick for a very good WR is a great deal. Its a possiblity coz with WR being a need, but not as great a need as the O-Line, D-Line and Linebakcers. The receiving core at the moment is also pretty young so adding a Veteren like Holt would'nt be a bad move. I have the Fins taking a WR in the 3rd round so in that sense it would work out well.

no thank you orlando pace has spent more time injured than on the field and holt is getting ready to hang up them cleats neither is worth more then a 7th rounder . IMO we should focus on a TJ Houshyomama guy or shoot for Boldin.
