For one, our FRONT FOUR u guys BRAGGED ABOUT SO MUCH is not that GREAT. 49 sacks doesnt warrant a 120+ rypg or wahtvere it was. u guys looked too black and white into things.

2nd, our play calling is horrible. Uhm, horrible pitch on that 3rd and 2.
....Then we dont even open up the field or throw a pass past 20 yards or even past 15 other then 1 to welker n such but mainly YAC. We showed/put NO fear in there D b/c our RUnnin game SUCKED and our Play calling was bad.

3rd, our Line is horrible. We get penetration off HIKE where as the steelers give ZERO penetration and parker gets contact 2 yards after the line as oppose to 2 yards into the line like miami.

2 main reasons we lost...

1. We simply got outcoached in the first half. Pittsburgh just happened to call all the right plays against our offense. Culpepper also looked like he had a serious case of the jitters.
2. Culpepper's jitter's just did not go away and the blown coverage against Heath Miller was the nail in the coffin! And I will give props to Pitt's offense, their execution was F****** incredible tonight!!

This is one of those incredibly rare games (at least under the Saban era) where I think we were "mainly" just out gameplanned. There weren't any major mess ups by either side, just graet play calling by the steelers, and very timid/nervous play by culpepper. I REALLY hope he comes around by next game!!!

the saddest part is despite the way we let parker run around us we had a 17-14 lead on their 40 yd line. i think a large factor was that terrible playcall on the 3rd and 2. im disappointed in DC but i think he will come around, i think he will have a decent amount of picks in the closer games though

Exactly......

Horrible gameplan on offense (lack of balance); horrible execution on defense.

I agree, that 3rd and 2 play killed us. We lost the momentum and it was over.

exactly. we ran aqway from our running game. no reason for that to have happen cuz in the 2nd half it was better hten the 1st half.

There's no doubt that starting Andre Goodman at CB was a mistake. Anyone who has followed Detroit for any length of time could have seen that coming.

I think it had more to do with massive break downs.

Sure, the offensive play calling was annoying; Slant passes and simple running plays...I miss Linehan's throwing-the-ball-downfield philosophy. But we stayed in the game despite it and we began to gell nicely at a certain point. What killed us, was the absolute melt down of the offensive line....followed nicely by an absolute melt down of our secondary (who will be the cause for headaches this season). Despite a few horrible plays (Steelers long TD..flag on 3rd and 16 that leads to them scoring, etc.) we looked pretty good OVERALL, once we tweak a few things, it will get much better. Daunte threw for a nice amount, we couldn't expect that from Gus. His INTs were a reflection of the awful play of the Oline.

yeah that counter pitch play was a terrible call. Daunte completely missed with the pitch and the play was downhill from there. I am also very dissapointed with Culpepper, but he needs to get used to playing at full speed again (not to mention new teammates). I am expecting a lot, I mean A LOT out of C-Pep next week. I'm not too nervous since we faced the best defense in the league.

I don't really understand the playcall on 3rd and 2, however I really can't understand how Miller got to be where he was WITH NO ONE AROUND HIM! That pretty much sealed our fate. That and the fact that Saban pretty much F'ed up the challenge play.

I have a feeling some changes are coming to the defensive backfield. Lehan and Goodman looked like amateurs.

Daunte and Ronnie Brown. Hey, at least Daunte is consistent, he started off right where he left off last year.

i don't think its that big a deal, we may have lost but this was a tuff game regardless pitt's injuries, we will do fine this season

I got 2 also:

1: Refs

2: Culpepper

Just like preseason. Easy dump offs and inacurate passes.

Playcalling is fine. Execution by our QB is the problem. If our receivers caught with their feet, we would have won that game!
