Duke basketball player J.J. Redick was arrested Tuesday morning at a DWI checkpoint, according to the Durham Police.

Police noticed Redick attempting to make u-turn in a 2005 Toyota SUV just around 1 a.m. at a DWI checkpoint at the intersection of La Salle Street and Kangaroo Drive in Durham.

An officer followed the car as it turned into the Belmont Apartments on McQueen Drive.

The Duke Guard and future NBA draft pick then blew a .11 when he was given a breathalyzer test according to officers. That's nearly 1.5 times the legal limit.

Redick was arrested and charged with DWI. He has since posted a $1,000 bond.

Report: Former Duke star Redick arrested for DUI

Life after Duke has turned infamous for J.J. Redick.

According to a report by television station WTVD, the former Blue Devil star was arrested early Tuesday morning for driving while impaired.

Citing a police report, WTVD said that the Atlantic Coast Conference's all-time leading scorer was arrested shortly after 1:00 a.m. EDT after Redick committed an illegal U-turn to avoid a police checkpoint.

An officer followed Redick and reported a strong smell of alcohol on Redick's breath and glassy eyes when he was pulled over.

Redick, who was released on a $1,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in a Durham court on July 17.

honestly basketball is the one sport where you can do something like this less then a month before the draft and probobly not even affect your stock at all. The guy can still shoot the ball better then almost anyone. So he'll still be a top 20 pick in this up and coming draft and he'll be a millionaire in a month or so :nono:

guys make mistakes, what can you do

My Sixers will draft him with the 13th pick...or Shelden Williams...one of the Dukies. .11 is not that bad...isn't .09 the limit in most places?

with all the coeds around, he decides to drive?

Not if my Magic take him first.

How did I know YOU were going to be the first to post this?

Would you have jumped all over it if it was Jawad Williams?

Yeah, if he had done the same thing as Redick. I'm not laughing at the DWI. I'm laughing at how he turned around and tried to avoid the checkpoint.

That is pretty funny.

You aren't a true college kid if you haven't done that. Luckily in Baton Rouge there are A LOT of side streets.

I've never even been through a checkpoint before. They had them all the time when I lived in Charlotte but they were always on the other side of town.

stupid....for driving drunk right b4 he gets his $$$....after the accidents with pro atheletes lately u'd think he'd think about his actions.
