MERGED: Reggie Roby DEAD at Age 43

That really is so sad!! He won't be able to enjoy his son's entry into the NFL.

Wow, just heard the news. Wanted to drop by and pay my respects. Sorry to hear the news. My prayers for his family.

May God Bless Reggie's Family.... Rest In Peace Reggie you were simply the best in your trade....

Much sympathies and condolences to the ROBY family.

I thought Courtney (2005 NFL Draft Prospect WR---Indiana (Univ.)) was his nephew though I could be wrong however.

Without saying he was the best punter Miami has ever had and IMO, he was 2nd behind only Ray Guy as the best in the NFL......

This is just horrible.

I grew up watching Reggie Roby... still regard him as one of my favorite Dolphins and one of the NFL's all-time best punters.

Such a shame. Such a shame... Thanks, Reggie, for being a great part of the Dolphins' legacy and making the Sundays of my childhood that much more enjoyable.

It is a very sad day indeed. He was the best punter I have ever seen, best the Dolphins ever had and one of the best to ever play that position. He will be missed. Im with legendary137, I would like to see his name in the ring of honor. He was one of our unsung hero's for sure.

We all want Dolphin news during the offseason but not this kind of news.

:shakeno:

RIP.

Early 90's - Catching Punts for Reggie

Just saw breaking news on ESPN bottomline that Reggie Roby dies at age 43. It's ashame, I was young when he played but I always remember how he wore a watch when he punted. I haven't seen any more info about this so I'm not sure how he died. Lets keep his family in our prayers.
I am truly saddened by the news. Around 1990, I went to school at St. Thomas University. In the afternoons, I would wonder over to the Dolphins training facility. One afternoon, I saw Reggie Roby punting on an empty practice field. I approached and asked if I could catch/retrive the punts for him. He said "yes". I spent the next 20 minutes catching and also dropping the most magnificent rockets I had ever seen. He was kind, approachable and a gentleman - not too mention one of the greatest punters of All-Time. Thank you, Reggie - for a memory I will cherish forever. God bless you!

i watched him throughout his career at iowa. he would stop watch his punts hang time.he even did kickoffs for iowa that would go through the uprights of the goal post. he was involved in his community and definitely a class act. never ever had a black mark on his past, will be missed.
