Ricky Manning

This is a young, talented CB for the Panthers that will be coming up in free agency. He will be a restricted free agent (RFA). He may be costly to aquire, but he could fill a BIG gap in the secondary.

The Panthers also have DeShaun Foster going up for free agency. He is the guy that has taken over for them at RB. They really can't afford to lose him, so I see them using their franchise tag on him. Manning should be available for Miami, but maybe at a high price?

Would you go after him?

Here are the stats on Ricky Manning:

# 24 Ricky Manning
Position: CB
Height: 5-8
Weight: 185
Born: 11/18/1980 (26 years old)
College: UCLA
NFL Experience: 4

He has averaged 55 tackles, 3 INTS, and 4 Passes Defended in his first three seasons. That does not include his 2006 stats.

He is a bit short. But he is pretty consistent in coverage. He does get his INTs every year. If the price is right, he may be worth a look.

I like him and he still has a lot of potential but hes a little short and he would come at a high price which I don't like!

my brother went to edison high in fresno with him.im suprised hes listed at 5-8 thats alittle generous hes a little dude.still hes decent and cant be worse than howard.

I cant help but have a Reggie Howard nightmare flashback.

Hes a good player, but I wouldnt give up draft pick compensation (he is a RFA, right?)

I think this idea of Saban going for bigger corners is the most overused comment on this board. A good corner is a good corner. Lenny Walls is 6'4, and Saban wanted no part of him when he was on waivers. Furthermore, he is not a good corner.

Ricky is an average CB..who had a GREAT game in the NFC championship.

He's an average starting Corner. But as the nickel corner, he is awesome. He is always around the ball, isn't afraid to hit, and gets himself quite a few INTs. Not only that, but he is a good guy. (I know him. He lives down the street from me, we work out at the same place and he has done our Pop Warner football camp.) :D
That said, he would be too costly anyway. And I think Carolina has every intention of keeping him.

ive always liked manning, but he wont fit sabans system, how bout a guy like azumah?

Ricky Manning Jr.

What's the word on him?

Every time I've watched him I've been very impressed, and seems to make the play. Anyone know something I don't? I think this kid could step it up and make an impact for the 06 Phins, and come at a reasonably cheap price.

I have been impressed with him as well... If Saban likes him he will be ours... If not, life goes on...
