http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...ay05,0,4691424.story?coll=sfla-dolphins-front A little bit. I think that's just from the added emphasis put on the running back position in general," said Brown, who's about eight pounds overweight at 240 and needs to slice his 12 percent body fat down to 8 or 9 percent. "I think I'm in pretty good shape, but as far as being in football shape, I still have a long way to go and a lot to work on from that standpoint."

Kinda funny when 12% body fat becomes a problem.

too funny...

Cam being on Ronnie Brown is a good thing, in my opinion... i hope he gets the message and comes out with reckless abandon... take it to the house this year, Ronnie!!... hit the crease and turn on those jets!!...

but it's true, he does need to be 225-230 to maximize that speed...

Yea I would love for Ronnie to be in the 225-230 area, give him some extra burst with some of that excess weight gone. Ronnie definitely ain't fat, but he could use the extra motivation by Cam to get him in tip top LT shape.

iT'S A JOKE. Cam's weight thing is about control more than anything else. I was there when Ronnie was the only one signing autographs after practice. Ronnie is hard as a rock. His stomach is flat. He's a big, muscular guy. Now maybe Cam gets the caliper out and measures Ronnie's bodyfat when he steps out of the shower naked, but anyone with decent eyesight can see he's solid. This is the kind of news that takes precedent in a minicamp 4 months before kickoff. Everyone forgets the line was in shambles the beginning of the year and then Ronnie hurt his groin which didn't heal quickly and he was about 60% healthy when he ran for 157 against the Bears. Then he breaks his hand misses 3 games and still ends up with 1000 and 4.2 yards per carry. Regardless of people that don't like Ronnie because he was the 2nd pick of a very weak draft and expect the moon from him, his main problem has been injuries. If he's healthy, he's easily a 1300 yds a season guy, and he ain't running behind the most feared line in football.

I've always thought Brown was a just a little too big. He's a muscular guy, but he isn't really cut. He needs to trim down to about 225, IMO. He'd be faster and quicker and not lose any power. Coming into camp at 240 pounds doesn't really look good for him in my opinion. He's got a potential competition coming up with R.Williams. This is not a good first impression.

Maybe he isn't ready to win the Mr.Olympia but I'm not sure he has to be "cut". Jerome Bettis wasn't cut but he did have some studs blocking for him. Have you actually seen Ronnie in person close up? The TV screen adds a few pounds. Ronnie hurt his knee/ ankle his rookie season and then his groin and hand last year. When healthy the guy is fast.

Just to add my two cents to this subject. I saw Ronnie Brown about 2 weeks ago and the first thing that came to my mind was that he was a little too big. Which is why I am glad to hear that Cameron's on him a bit.

If you do a brief comparison between Ronnie & Ricky you'll remember that Ricky Williams last year in New Orleans that he was at about 245 lbs. Coach Haslett was complaining that Ricky really couldn't break long runs and wasn't an explosive back. When we acquired Ricky Williams that summer he shed about 20 lbs and the results....he had his best year as a pro rushing for 1,853 yards with a numerous amount of 20-40 yard runs or better.

In order for Ronnie Brown to realize that 4.4 speed he ran at the combine I think he should lose some weigh and get down to the 220-230 weigh range. I think this will only help him with his quickness and burst.

I like what Coach Cam is doing bring more speed to the offense with Ginn & Booker. If we could also work on the personnel that we have too that would be evern better. Remember every season one should be looking for an edge to be even a better player. Ronnie should welcome any constructive critisim from a guy that knows offense and has worked with L.T. who also has a great work ethic.

I don't think this offense is far from realizing it's potential. It all lies within our offensive line meshing together and our QB (whomever that is) being steady.

Did you see him yesterday? Just curious.

I didn't, but I also know his playing weight isn't 240 pounds. He does need to lose somewhere between 5-10.

He's chunky, but not everyone has that chiseled type of physique. I think he'll be ready for the season, Cam is just using that old coaching motivation technique.

You rarely have a good thing to say about the dolphins outside a specific player. Why are you even a fan?

ronnie will be so fast if he can get down to 220 or 225 which is what cam wants him down to i think
