"I want to make sure I'm still in Miami," he told host Orlando Alzugaray. "I don't want to go anywhere else. To be honest, I'm not really interested in leaving Miami so it'll be good if I could go on and get something done and stay here."
The problem for Brown is that the Dolphins have little motivation to get something done right now. They hold his rights for 2010 barring a CBA agreement that isn't likely to happen.
The running back is still recovering from the Nov. 20th surgery on his right foot to repair what was believed to be a lisfranc fracture. Brown is still not running and is being brought along slowly because, well, the Dolphins aren't playing any games for a while.
The problem for Brown and his representatives is that the Dolphins will be eager to see the running back prove he is completely healed from the injury before they commit to a new contract. Moreover, the Dolphins might be patient enough on the matter to wait and see if Brown can play an entire season without suffering another injury before deciding his long-term value.
Brown, you see, is supremely talented and usually effective when he's on the field. But he's sustained significant injuries in two of the past three years, including a knee injury that required reconstructive surgery in 2007. And since entering the NFL in 2005, Brown has never started all 16 games in a season. Even his 2008 Pro Bowl year when he gained 916 yards, Brown started 13 games.
So while Brown may be willing to commit to a long-term deal with the Dolphins -- like, yesterday -- the Dolphins have no logical reason to share that desire right now.

Here is my 2 cents I believe Ronnie wants to stay in Miami & the organization would love nothing more to keep him, but like many of us they have one big question can Ronnie play without getting injured. I really hope Ronnie comes back a lights up the scoreboards. Similiar to the season he played under Cameron Ronnie was ready to have a magical ProBowl season. Unfortunately it was cut short yet again. Personally I hope Ronnie can prove he can stay healthy so we sign him long term. I think his best days are ahead of him, now if we could find a true number 1 WR.

IF Ronnie is not resigned it is a HUGE possiblility that B. Bellicheck/Pats would sign him, as he just raves about Ronnie (BB said that if he could take any player out of the AFC East it would be Ronnie). I would not like to face Ronnie 2 times a year.

I think we keep Ronnie and add another talented back from the draft w/in the next 2 drafts, probably a 3rd to 4th rounder. Worst case, we trade Ronnie out of the AFC East.

If Ronnie leaves, I think the wildcat will leave with him. a few weeks after Ronnie's injury, Sparano said the offense had evolved to the point where the WC wasn't needed...in fact, they just didnt have anyone who could run it IMO.

The one other player on this roster that can run the WC as effectively as Ronnie would be Thigpen, moreseo actually because he would force defenses to respect the pass.

A little hometown discount may be in order.

If Ronnie would resign for a decent price......and I had the option of a 2nd rounder on the table......I would be in a tough spot.

I think I would keep Ronnie. It may not be the best business decision but Ronnie is all class and I would like him to stay a Dolphin.

I want Ronnie to be back with the Fins. Yeah you can say he gets hurt but everyone gets hurt. If the FO dont want him back, Id rather trade him for draft picks at the trade deadline. We could get a 1st and 3rd for him.

Ronnie needs to stay there aren't enough people in this league with the heart that he has and I'm sure that would make the Pats day if he signed with and I would hate to see that.

Ronnie is hands down one of my favorite all time fins and hes only been here 5 years...lol... I would truly hate to see him leave...but in the end this is a production based business and you cant produce if you are not on the field. BUT I think if we brought in a legitimate SPEED guy either this year or next and have Ronnie be our BIG back along with Cobbs and Hilliard as backups we would have a good stable of backs.

He is going to be back in 2010, so there is no rush to sign him long term. This is a situation that will be revisited next offseason.

Since Miami has him for another year (pending no cba, which is probable), I don't see Miami doing anything with ronnie until at least half way through next season. Feel out how he's doing.

Brown has 20 games missed in 5 seasons is a bit much
Heck...
JT has only missed 4 games in 12 seasons with Miami
Carey has only missed 2 games in 6 seasons
Akin has missed 0 games in 8 seasons

I'd give him this next season to prove
he can get through a season healthy
if not...hit the road jack

i think he will be resigned he doesnt have much wear on him for being a RB he hasnt been abused like other rbs ... he still has fresh legs.

plus hes basically the face of the dolphins.... I just hope he stays healthy and gives us a hometown discount.

this is a joke, right? you don't think injuries to his legs affect his legs?:bobdole:

Whether he stays healthy all year in 2010 or not you can't give him a long term contract! He has proven he can not stay healthy for long just as Pennington can't so we would be foolish to invest alot of money long term for a guy that may never play in a playoff game. Year to year would be ideal but I certainly would not go bigger then a two year deal with a club option for a third.
If we let him play this year under his current uncapped contract then we could tag him next year to let him play again under a 1 year deal. Ronnie may not like not and probably is talking to the media now because he wants a deal sooner then later but we have to cover our own butts foremost.

thats not what i was saying i was saying that he hasnt been abused as in carries like (LT,eddie george.... theres a big list for RB's going into the 30's falling apart due to carries)
