Armando Salguero Ireland: "We have to be a little more transparent."

Armando Salguero In discussing the OL, Jeff Ireland said he has John Jerry, Nate Garner, Ryan Cook and others at RT. "We feel fairly good at that position."
From Omar's timeline:
Omar Kelly Ross said Peyton Manning wanted to be comfortable, and "didn't know anyone in our house."
Omar Kelly "I haven't lost in many things, and I'm not going to lose here," Steve Ross said.
Omar Kelly "It comes with the job. Its not my first time to have adversity. Adversity is a friend of a champion or companion of the weak," Ireland said
Omar Kelly "He didn't fit into our system and we're not going to add someone to just sell seats," Steve Ross said.
Omar Kelly "You gotta get a break. But you play the game to win," Steve Ross said of his approach.
Omar Kelly Dolphins owner Steve Ross said he called three fans who protested. Not just one, and said he specifically sought out the most passionate, loyal fans he could find to state his case.
Omar Kelly When asked about the trade of Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Marshall, Dolphins owner Steve Ross said “that’s history....That’s behind us. It’s a trade. He wasn’t cut. We got fair value and we think the football team is better for it.”
Omar Kelly “We haven’t gone out and gotten major free agents like people thought we would have, but we look at it as if we’re in the process," Dolphins owner Steve Ross. "Free agency has a period to run. There aren’t a lot of major names out there but there’s the draft and a whole plan that we have set forth. Some things go well, and some things don’t go as you would have liked them to go. You know who I’m referring to from that standpoint, Peyton Manning."
Omar Kelly Dolphins owner Steve Ross has vowed to run a more transparent organization. "We're in a new world today. You can't have a bunker mentality."
Omar Kelly "Money will never be an issue when putting together a winning team," Dolphins owner Steve Ross said at the NFL owners meeting.
Omar Kelly "He was the only franchise quarterback out there," Dolphins owner Steve Ross said of Peyton Manning. "I went after him. If I didn't go after him I wouldn't be interesting in winning. I want to win today, not tomorrow."
Omar Kelly Dolphins owner Steve Ross acknowledged being an NFL owner has been a learning experience. "I've had more owners come up to me and admit, 'I didn't know what I was doing for 4 or 5 years.' This is a different business. You can succeed in business, and it is a lot easier to do that than win [in the NFL]. You know what players you want, but that doesn't mean you can get them. A lot of things are out of your control, and we're all competitive as hell."
Omar Kelly "We have some passionate fans, and they have a right to voice their opinions," Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland said. "We have to do a better job of communicating with our fans and making sure that we're a little bit more transparent with what we're trying to get accomplished....At the end of the game its about buying football players and winning games. Right now we're in the finding football player process, and five months from now hopefully we'll be winning games."
Omar Kelly Dolphins General Manager Jeff Ireland said the team plans to address "more depth at the tackle position." He seems set at offensive guard with Artis Hicks being signed, and the return of John Jerry, Nate Garner, Ryan Cook and Rey Feinga, who has upside. "We feel fairly good at that [guard] but we're going to continue to address the offensive line needs. That's one must we're going to continue to do."
Omar Kelly Here's how Dolphins owner Steve Ross explained why the Dolphins didn't make an offer for Tim Tebow. “Well, I talked to the coach. [Tebow] didn’t really fit our system and you’re not going to bring someone in just to sell seats. Therefore we kind of dismissed that early on because the coach has an idea where he wants to take this team and how it’s going to perform and you get players who can really fit in that (west coast) system and Tim Tebow didn’t fit in that system.”
Omar Kelly "Those players we know are coming up," Dolphins owner Steve Ross said, referring to Jake Long and Cameron Wake, "We know we want to retain them. We have to make sure we're in a position to do that."
Omar Kelly Dolphins owner Steve Ross has hired a new NFL heavy hitter, Matt Higgins, who was the New York Jets' executive vice president of business operations. What his role and responsibilities are at this time are uncertain. But he doesn't work for the Dolphins organization. It is possible he's part of the Fanvision arm of his business, which also has former Chiefs executive Carl Peterson.

Mike Berardino Ross says "this is probably the best place to play NFL football. I wouldn't go by what one or two people say"
Mike Berardino "Know what?" Dolphins owner Steve Ross fired back at the national reporter. "I’ll do it again and again. I’m going to be bold. And you don’t lose for trying. And you know, if I can find the right guy, I’m going to be bold in getting him and I can’t worry about losing. Because nothing ventured is nothing gained."
Mike Berardino Dolphins owner Steve Ross vowed to be "a lot more responsive" to the concerns of fans going forward. "We’re going to be engaging you a lot more, the fans. Mike Berardino Dolphins owner Steve Ross didn't mention Jeff Ireland's assessment when explaining why the team didn't pursue Tim Tebow via trade. Joe Philbin effectively nixed that possibility.
Mike Berardino "The coach has an idea where he wants to take this team and how it’s going to perform," Dolphins owner Steve Ross said of Joe Philbin. "And you get players who can really fit in that system. Tim Tebow didn’t fit in that system."

Jeff Darlington Ireland gets philosophical: "Adversity is companion of a champion, enemy to the weak." ...Not sure who originally said that one.

Ross Sends Impassioned Message At League Meetings
By Andy Kent
Speaking for the first time in a public forum since he introduced Joe Philbin as the team’s new head coach in January, Ross reiterated his commitment to General Manager Jeff Ireland and to doing whatever’s necessary to improve the roster. He, Ireland and CEO Mike Dee sat at one end of a long table during a break in the action at the league meetings and fielded questions from the local and national media.
The last time the league meetings were held at The Breakers in Palm Beach back in 2008, Ross received his official approval from the 31 other owners and....
