MERGED: Ross public speaking skills

Not everyone gets a hard on for media and cameras (Jerry Jones among others). If I was an owner I would probably feel/look the same way. Doesn't really worry me in the least. These guys aren't entertainers.

Ross is obviously uncomfortable at the podium, but Jeff speaks very well and confident IMO. Philbin definitely impressed me during his segment.

Good thing "public speaking" by our owner and GM is not something that will affect the results on the team. If all goes to plan Ross won't have to speak much in the coming years. Ireland is not a bad speaker, but he will only have to speak a few times around the draft. Philbin is now the face and voice of this team, and he is a great speaker.

Haha. I said out loud to myself that listening to Ross' introduction was extremely painful to listen to. And yea, I was wondering what made Ireland say "Mike". Haha.

Philben fired me up... very well spoken and the I loved the quote about "being an attacking team in all three phases".

First coach to mention "bringing the Lombardi back to South Florida" since Jimmy

Lol have you ever seen Bob Kraft in public? Or Jim Irsay? Those guys are so wasted most of the time they can barely even stand up straight. Doesn't affect the product on the field, so who cares?

Im a public speaking professor and I cringed when I saw Ross speaking. Normally to get where he is at you have to be fairly decent at speaking to an audience. However you'd be surprised at how many CEO's and executives are awful at speaking in public. Philbin came off comfortable and intelligent and responded to questions well. Gotta think that is part of what helped him get the job.

Im a horrible public speaker. Id like to think Im relatively intelligent, but Id sound the same as Ross if you threw a bunch of cameras in front of me at a podium in a room full of people. All that matters now is that he wrote the checks and not **** things up. His public speaking is irrelevant.

They are not paid to be public speakers. I seriously doubt that you would sound even half as intelligent with all the lights, cameras,& people in front of you. Try finding something legitimate to whine about.
