We hear the Buffalo Bills are looking for a 4th pick in exchange for struggling, but still young quarterback J.P. Losman....

I have spent much time looking at him talent wise, but he always seemed to display a bit of a "punk" attitude. What would we really get from the trade? We have a young QB to work with, and I don't think that Losman has enough experience to be considered a savvy veteran.

I'm not kidding, the asking price is apparently a 4th and I don't mind Losman. I think he's erratic but as Beck's back-up, with a kid like Matt Flynn or a later round draftee, that's not a bad 1,2,3 of QB's.

On paper? No. It looks kind of neat. I don't think it actually would work out though. Losman doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who sits behind a 2nd year starter and keeps his mouth shut. Quite the contrary: Keep in mind that the Bills have very a similar QB situation to ours (aka a young kid they want to groom as their starter and virtually no veteran depth if they ship Losman) and they want to get rid of him. That ought to be telling. Losman wants to start and if we sign him and give Beck the nod, we'll be in exactly the same situation the Bills are in right now next offseason. He'll demand to be traded. Honestly, I don't see a point in this trade if we even remotely consider Beck to be our QB of the future. If we actually end up making a move for Losman, I'd have to reconsider my opinion that we do.

You kind of have to bring in a veteran. That being said a high fourth for a qb that a team has given up on doesn't sound promising. I'd wait it out.
