Saban: "We don't have a prevent defense."

I love this quote on the Nick Saban show tonight. It shows that the Wanny days of playing not to lose are over and we can expect our team to still take chances with the lead rather than allowing the other team to do whatever the hell they want. It's amazing what happens when you have a coach who plays like he wants to win.

Hey Wanny, how are things going in Pittsburgh???
 
what is really cool is if you dont live in the miami area, fininsider on miamidolphins.com has the saban show on there uncut. I just watched it and it is a really decent show. I love how Nick will not give the jets anything but praise and gives no inside information. He will be a dominate coach for us for years to come. GO FINS!!!!

Yeah...The Dolphin insider deal is fantastic but I guarantee it won't be free for long.

The fact is that in the 4th quarter yesterday we did only rush 3 guys the last few series which is how Plummer got a lot of garbage yards and they got down to the goal line at the end of the game. I think more importantly is the case that we didn't play prevent offense when we had a 10 point lead with 9 minutes left...Instead we threw the ball on 1st down and got a 60 yard TD on the play to go back up by 17 points after the Broncos had just cut it to 10.

Got three PC's, but they are all Desktops and I'm currently on the road on business, where I prefer my iBook. There has to be hope, I tell you.

After further reviewing the game i did notice that it was not a complete "prevent defense" after the fourth quarter when we finally let them score. It was a Cover 1 qb spy... zack was watching the run but was really eyeballing plummer...only reason they scored is because they got the matchup and finally punked seau...he was in pass coverage before but stayed with the TE or slot wr.... got somewhat burnt on this play that went to the 27 yard line??? I believe it was the 27 yard line. But this was not prevent...it was a trick prevent if you know what I'm saying...it was to relax jake into thinking we were gonna play wanny ball
 
I have a Dell here but a stupid 56k so the insider never works ,and if it does it's all laggy and takes a long time. DAMN YOU 56K. Even my grandmother has DSL :|

Wanny isn't the only coach who uses a "prevent defense". In fact, most teams use it in some form or another.
 
That is an awesome quote. We will never have to see the Fins lined up in Prevent.
