It's going on four seasons soon since the Dolphins first asked Jason Allen to show consistent performance so the rest of us don't shake our heads at the thought of such a gifted man with such a noble draft pedigree being such a major disappointment.
Be more consistent in your technique, Jason and you will play better, the Dolphins have told Allen. Be more consistent in your work habits, Jason, and it will pay off, they have said.
Find that consistency and you won't have to worry about being labeled a bust.
Unfortunately, the only thing consistent about Allen's career so far has been the club's consistent request for, you guessed it, consistency.
But isn't it time the Dolphins, demanding consistency from the player, delivered some consistency of their own?

Oh good grief. You can play on the NFL level or not. So far Allen has shown he can't. The only person that needs to be blamed for Allen's problems is Allen.

I can happily say I was at his best game. Philadelphia in 2007.

I have a little sympathy for him, because i know he's talented and he's been given the ole' switch-a-roo a couple times. He's got what, 2 years left on the deal? If he can stay at CB, I can see him come in as a dime back with Vontae, Sean, Will, and Jason... Nate Jones is also really good, but J Allen has the talent to beat him out.

There is alot of competition all over the secondary, he should get alot better as a CB in training camp. I've seen him suck, and I've seen him make great plays. He needs way more of the latter.

The switching back and forth has hindered him a bit, but at the end of the day, he just hasn't shown that he deserves to be a starter. If he had excelled at any of those two positions, the switches would never had happen.

I do think we may keep six cornerbacks, so I do think he will be back for his fourth season.

GoonBoss is right.

You either can play at this level or you can't. We may not like Saban, but he knew how to coach DBs. The current coaching staff seemed to work wonders with last year's DBs (Allen excepted). This theory of Mando's is garbage.

I agree. the main reason he was switched around is because he didn't show anything at either position.

I dont give a damn about Jason anymore. He is a pure bust. I believe he will get cut for two reasons. 1 -he is not very good 2- they can get out of his contract

Allen did himself in. It all started with the contract holdout after the draft and it has been down hill from there. (Now I know why he held out). He has all the physical tools, he just doesn't have the mental capacity to play in this league.

when you have more articles written about you about excuses rather than success.. maybe you shouldnt of been a 1st round pick..

i think hes good depth, id let him stick around for a minimum salary contract... but hes getting paid to much to be the 5th corner// 4th safety

Hey, Allen has the physical tools and he does some very nice things at Safety, but he just can't be trusted back there because he simply isn't a mental giant. He has the occasional brain fart, and that's just not tolerable at Safety. So, they switched him to Cornerback, where he's not quite as good of a fit, but which requires far less thinking and decision making. Still, he hasn't mastered that position either.

Let's face it, between Jason Allen and Philip Merling, we're not going to find the Chess Master of the Dolphins players ... I'm fairly confident of that.

This is the NFL and for Allen that stands for Not For Long if he continues to play the way he has been playing. He should have gotten it by now.

The article sounded more like a fairwell speech for Allen. He's just making excuses for being a bust and he knows he won't make the final roster.

He will be looking for a new team in the near future. The guy has all the talent but the guy has no football smarts.Too many brain farts.

I don't know, after seeing Goodman suck balls at the beginning of the season to looking like a polished, disciplined pro at the end, I'm going to suspend judgement. If these coaches can't put humpty dumpty back together again, then so be it.
