Merged: Say no to Brees and Yes to Ramsey

Ramsey has a Stronger Arm, is just as accurate and will cost us less. He will be released by the Redskins if the Dolphins play the Brees card. Ramsey is not what many people like to say is damaged goods. He had a terrible run of luck like being coached by S. Spurrier where he was sacked behind a terrible off. Line still he put up numbers that were solid. Ramsey is healthier and has alot of upside. If you look at there numbers between Ramsey and Brees they are very similar. The dif. is that Brees was givin a shot Ramsey was robbed of his shot because the redskins over paid for brunell so they felt they had to play him. Mark my words you will be very happy if we land Ramsey. Do you people really want to wait for the effects of Brees arm to take hold?:shakeno: Ill take a year younger QB with Pro Bowl talent and a Healthy arm.:D

Difference is, Brees is PROVEN Pro Bowl talent. Ramsey is not, He hasn't made a probowl. Brees's arm injured is better than Ramsey's arm healthy.

And, Brees was not given a shot. Brees went out and busted his butt and EARNED a shot, despite being plotted against by coaches wanting to see him out of there.
 
I kind of agree with you. Ramsey has a lot of upside, and hes a very smart QB. Put him in the right situation and I think he could succeed maginificently. He has a very live arm and hes still has a lot of football left in him (hes only 26).

On the other hand, Brees is obviously a proven commodity but his injury scares the hell out of me. If there are ANY lingering doubts about the severity of the injury, I wouldnt think twice to sign Ramsey instead. Not a popular sentiment on these boards, but thats how I feel nonetheless. JMO.
 
Remind me again, what has Ramsey done? Answer, nothing. If you get a shot at a Drew Brees, and if he is healthy, you sign him, period. I dont get this love affair with Ramsey, the guy has done nothing.
 
No way do you pass up Brees for Ramsey. That would be a Wanny type move.
 
Make no mistake. Ramsey is plan B if Brees is not ahead of schedule like they say or it is worse than what they say. But Ramsey is clearly plan B and Culpepper is still mentioned.

you should "SAY NO TO DRUGS" !!!!!
 
Ramsey my be some sort of distant plan B if Brees ask for more than we can come up with, but Brees is a pro=bowler that will cost us nothing but money. We would have to trade for Ramsey.
Situations like what we have with Brees comes around once in a lifetime. You can't pass on them. If it doesn't work out then we will look around and see who is left.
 
What if Brees' arm is only 80% healed? Thats the scenario that scares me most. Do you chalk up big dollars for Brees then? Personally, I wouldnt be so quick to answer that question.
 
You know, we could have our cake and eat it too. We need two quarterbacks right now. I wouldn't mind seeing both Ramsey and Brees in camp, should the salary cap allow. Sign Brees as a free agent and give the Redskins a low draft pick (I know we don't have a 5th or 6th) or some compensation for Ramsey (we already got rid of Howard, dangit!).
 
You make a point, but Ramsey is to mentally messed up to ever be good in this league again. Takeing Ramsey is just like takeing the chance on AJ but a little bit of a better player. Plus Brees has already proven he can play in the NFL at a probowl level . Even with the help of LT and Gates he has much more talent then Ramsey.

Brees DOB: 1-15-79
Ramsey DOB: 2-14-79

Yes, I'm sure Ramsey's has a much longer career ahead of him because he is a whole 29 days older! :shakeno:

Man, you should seriously think about giving up the drugs. "Reality" is not that bad... give it a shot sometime. :shakeno:
 
we really don't need another back QB to be our starter. Ramsey is a career backup, just like Feeley, Fiedler, Lucas, Lemon, Greise, etc, etc
 
Obviously Brees is a much more established player than Ramsey. But there are serious questions about Brees health. It has been mentioned by several sources that he may have also suffered a partially-torn rotator cuff in addition to his torn labrum. Thats a VERY serious injury for a QB to overcome.

Anyway, all Im saying is that theres a bigger picture that people are failing to see. If Brees is NOT 100% healthy, then Id rather take a shot with a young guy like Ramsey. I dont care that he'll be ready to start throwing for May minicamps. Will he regain his old velocity? You dont want to have a Chad Penningtom situation on your hands.
