If Manning is available (big if) and if he’s deemed healthy (bigger if), the Dolphins will definitely be part of the group of teams chasing him like a pack of dogs chasing a T-bone steak.
That doesn’t mean Miami will land Manning. Too much is still unsettled on that front. But do not discount the possibility because it was a prominent topic of conversation at camp Saturday by high, high, high-ranking team officials.

This is a dangerous avenue we're about to turn on. I hope if he is available we get outbid. I know Manning is a great QB and he's a big name but that neck is trouble and one blindside hit could knock him out for good or worse. I hope it doesn't lead to paralysis.
 
If Peyton Manning is 100% healthy, and that is a big IF, I am very much on board of bringing him to Miami. This team has some solid veteran players on offense like Marshall and Bush that the addition of Manning could produce immediate offensive success. Plus Manning would have a solid defense that really wasn't a strength for him in Indianapolis. However, Manning may never play again, so it really depends on how he progresses between now and March.

If not Manning, I would definitely look into the Matt Flynn possibility.
 
If he was 100& healthy we were guaranteed 3 seasons of peyton manning, I would take that in a heartbeat, I think he would instantly make us a superbowl contender in a weakening AFC, but that is completely hypothetical and one hit could knock him out again, I think would be a serious risk.

I would have to agree 100%.
 
He only has another year or two of good play. While it would undoubtably push us into the playoffs, im not one to put all my eggs into one basket. Weve seen what happens to other teams when they go "all out" for a championship.

If Philbin feels that Flynn is the next Matt Schaub and not the next Matt Cassel, then we should go that route.
 
He will never be 100% again and you need to accept that before you sign off on him. As a bunch of posters here discussed in another thread, when you get that last surgery that he had, that's not to repair damage. That's to prevent further damage. We had a laundry list of guys who had had that same procedure done come in and talk about how they're still suffering from pain and loss of strength in their arms.

Manning is a great competitor, a genuine tough guy, and I respect him a lot, but he's not superman. I'm really scared that he winds up being another Trent Green here.
 
i don't know where the flynn is schaub stuff comes from...makes no sense to me...flynn is much more mobile than matt schaub...much more

mort and schefter just said on nfl countdown that dolphins, redskins, jets and cardinals are the teams interested in manning...i like our chances..i dont think he'll go to redskins because he's not going to play in the same division as eli..the jets are a trainwreck..that leaves dolphins and cardinals...i think he would choose miami over arizona...they also said flynn to miami is a real possibility but manning is 1st choice..remember its a business and ross has to sell tickets..bottom line, i think manning or flynn will be a dolphin!!!

I didnt mean to compare their ability, just the results. Schaub ended up being a franchise quarterback for the Texans. Matt Cassel and Kevin Kolb are all but busts for their teams.

Schefter was the first to break the news on Philbin and I actually like him...........now Mort is another story.
