I'm creating this bc it would make me a very very happy Fin fan.....It would solidify a top 5 defense....and we can then really focus on our offense...which we really need to do
 
i know its soemwhat of a pointless thread but im superstitious...from what ive heard Mueller has een talking to him every day since his reales....make it happen randy

Yeah, I want him here too. Top 5 defense? I think we need a little more than Porter. We need to get lucky and draft a CB that can start within the 1st two rounds, and hope Allen can start and be what we think he can be at saftey.

we were ranked 4th last year.
 
SIGN ME UP

with close to 30 million in cap space we need to bring in some type of playmaker and his name is Joey Porter. I love the fact were building up through the draft and redoing our entire offense. Our defense is still the core of this team and by adding joey porter to our talented front 7 (thomas, taylor, roth, holliday) we will continue to have a top defense for the next 3-4 years. It will be easy to add young talent to the front 7 now that we are acquiring so many draft picks but what we need to address soon is putting playmakers in the secondary.

oh well, lets grab porter and really focus on offense in this years draft.

let me start by saying im up here in pittsburgh and there has been alot of talk about porter up here. there is also alot of reasons why they left him go. here are some of the reasons that are being said.

1. he turns 30 before the season starts, thats the begining of the downside for lbs.
2.his play has been on a decline for the last couple of years
3. he wants a big long term contract

general thought up here is that it was a good move to let him go and that his play hasnt warrented what it would cost to keep him.

i cant see us signing him with the way weve been getting rid of under productive players. it looks like were building for the future, not looking for a guy that will cost alot and who is on the decline

Yea dude we were 4th last year without Porter. Our passing defense was also in the top 5. So now imagine having Porter, a healthy Travis Daniels (potential #1 CB IMO), Jason Allen and Bell starting for a full year, and crazy as hell Matt Roth. Top 2 maybe?
 
Schefter reports on NFL Network (Porter)...

that the Miami Dolphins did indeed meet with Joey Porter this past weekend....he said his next scheduled visit was on Wed with Cincinatti...he did mention Mcmike and Harrington releases possibly being done to clear up cap space for a Porter signing....Get it done Mueller!
 
Interesting. Figures he left Miami without signing. That is so Miami Dolphins.
 
i think porter is the type of LB we need.....i dont see what we're doing as a house cleaning and "rebuilding"...i see this as mart moves but i think we will e a very competitve team this year.....get porter in here and add some depth to the secondary and line and our defense will be sick......make the right moves in FA and in the draft and get players to step up and our offense will be a good one....i like the moves so far and now all i want is porter....my only worry, and its been for a long time now is oline.....i think Cpep will be fine...but we need some good players locking up front
