http://www.realfootball365.com/nfl/articles/2007/07/dolphins-schlesinger-toughness040707.html Casual football observers have long overlooked the importance of fullbacks because their impact on the game doesn't show in the stat column and is therefore difficult to rate. Among teammates, the fullback is usually considered the unsung hero and toughest contributor to the team.

The Miami Dolphins ' free-agent signing of Cory Schlesinger during the offseason immediately added an element of toughness and grit to the team.

Nice article. I'm can't wait to see how much of a different team Miami will be when the season starts. I think alot of people will be surprised.

i hope so but I am tempering my excitement. I think we all remember how much we thought Fred Beasly was going to have an impact. This was the best blocking fullback in all of football according to some and was a fairly young 31 and could not beat out Barnes. As for a Mauia I have never seen a guy do so little to be regarded as our FB of the future. If he turns out to be a good FB it will be a nice story but seriously I have never seen a career 4 game starter gets so much hype by fans and media.

I don't know, but I think Mauia is purely a developmental stage opportunity right now. Being able to learn the ropes through the eyes of Cory Schlesinger is a tremendous opportunity for Mauia though. He is the right body type though, and brings the attitude of "I can pound anyone." The whole Samoan collective culture will only assist, support, and amplify his abilities, and I would NOT be surprised that if we had not successfully drafted Satele and Soliai, that we would have taken Mauia. He will need time to grow, both mentally and physically, and I think Cam/Ran is looking long-term on this dude. Any playing time he gets right now will only spell Schlesinger, but be a big benefit to his playing maturity.

Think about Schlesinger is that he is 35 and has tekn a pounding over the years, I have no doubt he can still play, but we also need a good quality back up for him because chances are good he will get nicked up this year.

I hope he breaks Brushi's face mask this year....

hopefully he can teach the juggernaut a few tricks on how to break facemasks haha

do u guys really think we keep 2 fullbacks? i actually see onme of them being cut. or i see regan going to the practice squad.
