[MERGED] Small Possible Pick Up / Mare?

I saw Olindo Mare was realeased by the saints. What would you think about picking him up for kickoffs and let feely focus on just fg. and xtra points?
 
Umm...no. We don't have a lot of depth and talent on this team and to bring in a kicker just to kickoff is not a good idea.
 
But he was a killer on kickoffs if he puts us in good field possition that was a big problem last year.
 
No to bringing him back.

Probably the best move Mueller/Cameron made was trading him to the Saints for a 6th round pick. Sure Drew Mormino might never amount to much, but at least he is still here and has potential.
 
I know he is a horrible fg kicker now but he is an awsome kickoff specialist and would come cheap

Our problems with field position on kickoffs last year went beyond Feely kicking off. It was having to use too many different players because of injuries and the lack of continuity. Not to mention what appeared to be poor coaching at times.
 
Please dont ever say that man's name and Miami Dolphins in the same sentence again.
 
Terrible idea. We released Zach Thomas to help create cap space for some sorely needed FA's and you want to spend money on Mare!?!

Does that still make sense to you?
 
Roster spots are too valuable, you really can't afford now a days to have two kickers on your roster. You really need a kicker that can do kick offs and field goals effectively.

I apoplogize if this was already posted, I looked and didn't see it.

I wouldn't mind Rob Morris, and if Givens is healthy he may be a good fit I really wanted him 2 years ago. Givens wouldn't be my 1st choice but he may come cheaper. I also really liked Kendrell Bell a few years back but haven't heard much about him recently, so I don't know how or if he would fit.

Also it was interesting to see 2 ex-fins get cut. Mare I wasn't that surprised about, b/c he has had 2 rough seasons, Feely was our best pick up last season. Carter was a little surprising b/c i thought he signed a 4yr contract, but I'm glad we cut him he was getting up there in age and was exspensive.
 
I might look at bringing Kevin Carter back for the right price. Givens could be had on the cheap too if he can stay healthy.

I just saw this article too and was kind of surprised by some of the cuts.
 
Kevin Carter.. I know people are saying we are going 3-4 but its gonna take some time.. This year I imagine we play a good amount of 4-3 still and could really use Carter. I know we need to get younger but we are thin and He can still play
