Los Angeles Lakers player Lamar Odom’s 6½-month-old son has died, a spokesman for the team said Thursday.

Jayden Odom died Wednesday night, apparently suffocating while sleeping in his crib in New York, according to John Black.

“Lamar is very distraught,†Black said. “Both he and the baby’s mother are asking that people respect their privacy at this time.â€Â

Wow, just wow. It's terrible news. I hate reading stuff like this; I love kids so this hits me really hard.

RIP to Jayden and my prayers are with the Odom family.
 
RIP Jayden...my thoughts and prayers are with Lamar and his family. I'm sure all of Laker Nation's prayers are with Lamar to see him through this
 
aw man...im shocked reading this....very very sad news..thoughts and prayers are with the odom family..i have a daughter whos 9 months and i dont know what i would do if something happened to her..
