MERGED:Sparano job update/Sounds like Denver game might be his last

If I was Ross i'd do what any business man would do in this situation. Tomorrow morning I'd fire Tony to signal this incompatence is UNACEPTABLE and there are consequences. Next i'd cut ANY player that doesn't get with the program immediately. No more excuses.
This may not help the current situation but we are got going anywhere anyways.
Apathy breeds apathy and it should not be tolerated. PERIOD

Just leave Tony be for the season. You're paying him anyways. All you have to do is inform the guy that this will be his final season as the head coach of the Dolphins. Tony can stick around or walk away.

Tony doesn't have the "stones" or grey matter to fall on the sword.

If he did; Can you imagine the PC after?

TS: I thought I *executed* well

Would a change at HC to Nolan cause the Dolphins to start winning games? Let's look at the history

One more... Fewell was 3-4 replacing Jauron in 2009.

well if there was ever a game we should win i would think this would be the one...but i bet it doesn't happen...sparano probably gets his walking papers on monday or tuesday next week...

i just don't see how we are gonna keep von miller and dumervil off of matt moore this week...they're gonna draw straws to see who gets to attack colombo on a snap by snap basis

This is like "Sophie's Choice" for the SFL'ers

if the players believe in tony and hasnt lost the locker room as they say, it sure isnt showing on the field.

sports are like politics, to get the right folks in the right places, you have to over look the pretty speeches, the fluff, the groomed hair, what they SAY they do and say what they WILL do. LOOK AT WHAT THEY HAVE DONE AND ARE DOING AT THE MOMENT!! stop getting sucked into all the we'll do this, we'll do that. dont get blinded! the only TRUTH is what is actually HAPPENING, not whats being said.

remember, jason taylor and zach thomas and other hi profile finz at that time all came out in SUPPORT OF WANNY but what did they do on game day? sure didnt look like they were behind him to me, and the current bunch isnt following sparano into the cannon fire [like the niners are with harbaugh]. these guys are all good company men, their not getting on tv or radio and saying the coach sucks, hes gotta go, hes killing the team and were done. joey porter isnt here any more, hes in arizona.

so the players can SAY all they want................ what do we SEE?

looks to me like sparano has lost the team and the player are done with him. for WHATEVER reason.

what is scaring me right now is us winning this denver game. this absolutely gurentees sparano stays in miami till seasons end and GIVES DENVER THE LEG UP should we tie with them on record at seasons end giving them andrew luck, or control of where he plays through trade offers.

IRELAND is as much to blame for this sh*ty team as anybody.

How can he possibly get a free pass for this mess? It's his team, his players, his philosophy, his bad team chemistry.

This will be the biggest plus about going ahead and firing Tony. Right now, Jeff is using Tony as his teflon right now. See, as long as Tony is coaching, Jeff can blame the losses on Tony. Jeff has already thrown Bill under the bus. I think Jeff knows that even if Tony is fired, this team isn't going to win very many games, and without Tony around, the finger can be pointed at Jeff.

Jeff Ireland is a weasel of the third order.

This will be his last game if true. The Broncos will beat the Dolphins. As for the SFLers, dont worry. Nolan will make no difference. This team has packed in the 2011 season.

I think if Ross wants to restore some semblance of respect for this Franchise he will Fire Sparano so the talk about his successor can begin in earnest. Saves him from enduring the pain of pitiful press conferences, and outs the onus squarely on the players.

We need to start the process as soon as possible IMO. Everyone knows it's inevitable. No an interim coach won't make us any more competitive. But it's a saving face move, and puts Sparano out of his misery, and shows some Class and empathy from Ross.

This way we can have discussion with coaches without the negative perceptions and bad publicity.

Not firing Tony now says the current situation is acceptable.
It says we tolerate incompatence and losing is ok.
Screw that fire him now. Send the correct message to the team and fans.
Whatever happens after that is ok. See what players are with the program and cut the others.
This will probably still keep us on track for a high pick and set the stage for the new coach with a nucleus of dedicated players and the draft just around the corner.

And that is exactly why Ireland is trying to convince Ross to keep Sparano. He knows that without Sparano around to blame his coaching, his personnel acquisitions will catch the fall. It is Ireland's goal to keep Tony around for as long as possible, IMO, so he can continue his blame game.

The best thing Ross could do is leave Sparano and SHUT UP! Deal with Ireland (who I think is equally responsible) and Sparano after the season. Ross sat in Ireland's office after the Harbaugh affair where he apologised to Tony and gave him the season and one more. Keep your word for this year!!There is already talk that Luck doesn't want to go to a disfunctional team and a yappy owner is at the top of the BE CAREFUL list for disfunctional teams.
