Coach Tony Sparano said he had no worries about eventually handing quarterback Chad Henne the keys to the Dolphins' offense.
Sparano acknowledged Thursday that Henne, selected in the second round of the 2008 draft, was pushing veterans Josh McCown and John Beck so much the coaching staff believed he was worthy of the starting spot.
"This isn't a secret, the three people that were competing know my feelings on this. The separation that needed to occur didn't occur and that's really why when Chad [Pennington] became available we thought we really have to do this," Sparano said. "But that being said, [Henne] closed the gap on them and that's what you want to see out of a young guy that we drafted.
"Henne ran our football team pretty well in [the] preseason. That was a good problem to have."
