Merged: Sportsline article on Saban

good read this article is a joke the author is a fool. Someone takin there job seriously is a problem? I like our pres. and if I was head coach of the dolphins and i am trying to get them to the super bowl what better way to show your dedication then by turning down a pres whom you have already had dinner with! Examples are what make good leaders great leaders. If your being led by someone who sets a high bar then you know you have to follow or be GONE. This author couldnt find something more to write about than our coaches dinner plans? How dumb and un interesting is his life?

I like Nick Saban and I think he is a great football coach, but I do not see how he could not find time to eat dinner with the president of the United States (regardless of who it is).

You guys notice that this is now on the front page of sportsline.com? And did the author even think that maybe, Saban honestly couldn't fit it in with his schedule due to work?

Pretty lame article. Saban doesn't even have time for his wife, where would he find time for the president? Saban is dedicated to coaching football, works for me.

saban will never live this down. ever.

I disagree. For one, I've heard more good about Saban because of this on Sports Radio than bad - usually the take is that he is rediculously dedicated to his team.

Secondly, if anyone does research, they'll find Saban supports Prez Bush, so it's not a political diss.

Saban is what Saban is. He's ultra dedicated to a fault. Sure, it would be nice if he could've met with Bush just on principal - but it was short notice and he was ultra busy. It happens!

Wow. That article was really poorly written. It is irrelevant whether you agree with the guy, but the best he could do was:

When some coaches hear the words "crisis in the Middle East" they think the middle linebacker from Eastern Kentucky tore a knee ligament.

They pay this guy? No wonder Prisco is Sportsline's best NFL writer!

Whether Saban meets with the president or not is his choice, I don't see how you then make the jump to him being an egomanic thinking that he is better than the president, the author has written a flawed article, I am just amazed that this makes the front page.

This guy really has issues with some coaches, can you say anger management, but probably with some just cause. I don't know if I'd bunch Saban with Parcell quite yet but I think the author has a valid point about him and some modern day coaches. What I'd like to see is for a Player or Coach turn the pen on the media if they could. I mean why is anyone asking personally question to JT about his divorce. And the media wonders why players and coaches are reluctant to talk to them. :shakeno:
Bitter little man

What a stupid article (especially the "phone conversation"). What is so bad about being so ridiculously committed to your team? I have never heard of Saban being referred to as arrogant, conceited, big ego, etc., until this article. And those coaches he listed as "prima donnas" along with Saban? Joe Gibbs, Bill Parcells, Bill Belichick, Jon Gruden, and Tom Coughlin? Hmmmmm, let's see here, what do these coaches have in common? Oh yeah, winning Super Bowls!! The only one on that list (other than Saban) who hasn't won a Super Bowl is Coughlin, who got to the AFC Championship Game twice with Jacksonville and has the Giants headed in the right direction. Gibbs + Parcells + Belichick + Gruden = 11 Super Bowl appearances and 9 Super Bowl wins. Every one of those 5 other coaches has taken at least two different teams to the play-offs (if you count Gibbs' two tenures as Redskins coach as two different teams). And.....win a few games as Dolphins coach? He's got 9 already, and will be getting many more before it's all said and done. What a bunch of garbage.

Actually, this is a very good PR move for the Sabanator. It keeps his name in the press and he doesn't actually have to do anything.

The writer was funny, but not insightful.

Besides, we don't need the media anymore. We can see the player and coach interviews straight from the source and undiluted on the Dolphins website...

Am I the only one who finds it pathetic the way they get their quotes from those interviews and 'create' stories and 'pretend' Q & A sessions..

:dolphins:

I thought that writer really sucks and is full of ****. Was it me or was the POS dissing our coach and pres?
