Steelers | Roethlisberger injured Wednesday
Wed, 16 Aug 2006 16:01:58 -0700
<A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/156">NFL.com reports Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (thumb) left practice early Wednesday, Aug. 16, with an injury to the thumb on his throwing hand. "I think he hit his thumb, on the next-to-last play he was in there, on a shoulder pad," head coach Bill Cowher said after practice at St. Vincent College. "He's upstairs (in the team's facilities), so we'll look at that, assess it, and I'll probably have more information tomorrow." Cowher said he does not believe that Roethlisberger's hand or thumb problems are chronic or the result of arthritis........Wonder if its broke?.......and they are covering it up......

Why is anyone even that close to him in practice? Seriously, I know it sounds like an accident, but teams need to be more careful with how close they allow the players to play around him.

BTW, wrong forum...

:shakeno: Dude, you should really actually care what the title of the thread says. Totally misleading:shakeno:

really i prefer him instead of berlin....:dolphins:

He might sit out this weekend, however, I watched him closely out here in the desert last weekend. He showed ZERO affects from the motorcycle crash. He looked pretty solid in the first series (Only one he played) and took a shot to the head. Didnt phase him.
I think we will see him at his best when we play them in week 1.

remember how kurt warner had the bad thumb a few years back...maybe roethlisberger will have the same problem...

Remember how Fiedler got hurt a few years back. His thumb hit someone's helmet, and that kept him out for a few weeks (though he finished the game with a miraculous comeback vs. the Broncos).

Big Ben Injured in practice

Big Benny Hill of the Steelers injured his throwing hand appears to be his thumb. Cowher said he will have and MRI tomorrow for the extent of damage he may have done to it. More news tomorrow.

QUOTE FOR COWHER ON FOX SPORTS
"I think he hit his thumb, on the next-to-last play he was in there, on a helmet," coach Bill Cowher said after practice at St. Vincent College. "He's upstairs (in the team's facilities), so we'll look at that, assess it, and I'll probably have more information tomorrow after the MRI."
The injury occurred about 10 minutes before the end of the team's second workout of the day. The third-year quarterback had looked sharp throughout the practice.
Roethlisberger did not speak with reporters as he left the field, his hand wrapped in ice. Cowher, however, did not sound as though he believed the injury was serious but will know more tomorrow.
Roethlisberger was on the official injury report through the last five games of the 2005 regular season and was listed as "probable" in the playoffs with a right thumb injury. After last season, Roethlisberger said he had played the latter part of the year with a broken thumb.
Late in the 2004 season and during the playoffs that followed, Roethlisberger started wearing a glove on his throwing hand during games, sparking speculation that his thumb was injured. Both he and Cowher downplayed such talk at the time.
Cowher said he does not believe that Roethlisberger's hand or thumb problems are chronic or the result of arthritis.

Think about this for a second. How many games last year did Ben play last year with a broken thumb? There is no need to cause a major stir over this. I mean, it's nothing major and Ben's played through it before. Hell, he won a Super Bowl with a broken thumb.

Besides, dont get me wrong I want the Fins to win but there is nothing easy about going to Pittsburg and beating the Steelers no matter who is at QB.
