sunday mcnair will audition for the fins

in todays paper they talk about mcnair not plying in tennesee next year and that he might end up here. saban even talks about liking him. at 33, should we give him a shot?
i say, if we cant get daunte culpepper, bring in mcnair. i have all the respect in the world for him. hes equivalent to brett favre to me. he stil can scramble when he needs to, has the experience, and has the arm.

I think he would be a good fit for a year or two, at the right price of course.

I would like to rebuild with a young QB. It doesn't make sense to refurbish a team with the most central piece being an aged player past his prime.

i still think that Frerotte will be the vet next year.

An ideal roster should have a mid twenty QB, a rookie QB and a seasoned veteran QB. McNair would be an upgrade at the seasoned vet QB position if Gus is let go

These are the possible QB roster as I would like to see it

Vet QB - Steve McNair/ Jon Kitna

20 something QB - Phillip Rivers/ Josh McCown/ David Carr/ Joey Harrington
(McCown is the only one who's cheap)

Rookie QB - Jay Cutler/ Paul Pinnegar/ Bruce Gradkowski/ Erik Meyer
(Cutler is the only one who would make us take a salry cap hit)

I think we should at least get one QB for 2 of these categories

Ill say it ....

If we can land a guy like McNair...

And keep him for two years or so while we groom a young gun. McNair can win us a Super Bowl. I have no doubt about it.

Man, we don't need anymore re-treads. McNair's best days are behind him. What do we need him for? To come in for A game and get injured? We need to get YOUNGER at QB. McNair would be an ok veteran backup. But he won't play back-up, he wouldn't come very cheap, and we couldn't rely on him because he gets injured too often.

EDIT: Let me add that if we DO get him, I won't be overly disappointed as long as we don't throw alot of money at him. If he can stay healthy, he will do a good job for us. But that seems like a big IF.

that dude is one big hit from Shady Acres retirememt home.

Pass.

Love to have both of them....could we be that lucky?

McNair will restructure and then spend a year tudoring Matt L. before retiring as a Titan.

My Lord, when do you people stop? Now there are talks of "can we get both Culpepper and McNair for a backup"   Come on people, use your nugget! First off, McNair is going to want a healthy salary and bonus because there is no way in hell a guy of his REPUTATION (notice I don't imply the skill is correct) will not require that. Second, he's not going to go somewhere and be a backup. Third, we aren't going to pay millions for McNair and Culpepper to be here.

I feel as though it is almost a guarantee that Lemon and Frerotte are QBs on this team next year. Frerotte will either start again or be the primary backup as a guy who can step in if the starter goes down because he knows the offense so well.

Mcnair would be Great, and Frerotte would be a GREAT backup. I don't really know what the heck we should do with the QB position though cuz part of me says pick a QB high in the draft, another part says Let Sage, and Lemon fight it out for a starting spot, and draft other areas of need, and another part says get Kitna, or Mcnair or some other Vet that could take over for a while and still draft a QB high(although with Kitna we might not have to, he's still young enough)
