MERGED: Steve Towle charged with felony assault.

Not to ignore the severity of this, but on a different note:

"A police statement said the 6-foot-3, 300-pound Towle "

6'3 300lbs? It's just unreal to think he was a LB. Show's that since he retired he's been eating more than wheaties.
 
Any other oldtimers like me,remember the commerials for
SKOAL that Towle and Earl Campbell(sp?)used to do?

The Associated Press is reporting former Miami Dolphins LB Steve Towle was charged with felony first-degree assault in a road rage incident. Towle was arrested Wednesday, Sept. 7, in the Kansas City suburb of Independence, MO. A police statement said Towle admitted to pushing or punching the other man, Rudolph Babbitt. Babbitt hit his head on the ground, causing him to be hospitalized with bleeding from the brain. According to a court document, the incident allegedly started when Towle cut off Babbitt. Towle played with the Dolphins from 1975-1980 and holds their single-season tackles record.

It seems strange that I've never heard of this guy when he is our leading single-season tackler.

same here, I tried to look up his stats but I couldn't find anything.

I believed he wore #56 back in the days. He must have been half decent, I instantly remembered his name from back in the heydays (70's).
 
Steve Towle (Inside linebacker ) lead the dolphins in tackles in 75 (164),76 (216), and 1975 (138), with 216 being the record.

LOL Yes I do. That commercial refered to Towle as a 'star linebacker'. Maybe it's just me but he never was a 'star' anything. Just an average player who never stood out on this team. A highly touted player coming out of college who never lived up to expectations. jmo
