KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept 11, 2005) -- Kansas City cornerback Patrick Surtain was helped off the field in the second quarter against the Jets after getting tackled during an interception return.

The Chiefs said the former two-time Pro Bowler had head trauma and his return was questionable.

Surtain, acquired in the offseason from Miami to solidify a weak secondary, intercepted a pass by the New York Jets' Chad Pennington and returned it 53 yards, and was tackled by guard Brandon Moore. He lay on the ground several minutes before he was helped to his feet and walked wobbly legged off the field.

Man sorry to hear that. I hope Surtain comes out okay and can continue his career. Injuries suck... plain and simple. I also hope Champ is able to come back okay as well.

I was a sportsbar watching the Phins but I saw the play where Surtain got hurt....hope Patrick will be ok....they stomped the Jets. Looking forward to the Jets next week,,,,,,Pennington 6 fumbles and a noodle arm....wonder if we are gonna face Fiedler??

Just saw the play on sportscenter. HE got flatened. They still dont know how hes doing, but it did show him walking back to the back after the play...
