I wanted to call this thread "The Peanut in the Turd", but didn't feel that was appropriate for the forum main.

Anyway, we played a horrible game today. Got beat 22-0. But our divisional brethren also struggled mightily today.

The Jets lost 27-0. Mighty Buffalo got stomped 48-10. And New England was only 7 points better than the Suitcase City Saints.

Normally I'd get some joy out of this development. And I still do. But what really worries me is the Jets not winning. They've got an aging Curtis Martin. And they're going to be in the market for a new franchise QB. If they're worse than us and end up with the 1st or 2nd pick, you're looking at Matt Leinart or Reggie Bush in the division for a decade or so. Buffalo and New England really aren't a threat to pick a either guy. New England won't pick high. But I'd hate to see the Jets end up with either of these guys.

Basically, I want the Jets to suck. But only be the third or fourth suckiest team in the league.

If you combined the AFC East?

Could you make a superbowl team out of all this crap, I have never seen four teams stink so bad, how far we have fallen

the jets are going to get leinhart can pay him and they have no cap room, so reggie bush is more likely

i am 42, and i have never seen two year this bad for the phins

It's more about position in the draft than on the field. A guy that gets picked first overall will require a lot more money than second overall, regardless of which position they play. That being said, if Bush goes to the Jets second overall they'll have to pay them a ton of money, even if they're in bad cap trouble (which I'm not sure of, I'm taking your word for it.)

That's so true...and isn't it a shame, given how short the season is, and how unbearably long the offseason tends to seem?

The Phins suck, the Canes get mauled out of the NC picture, and (for you) the Bills suck. Hard to find redeeming value in this season. And to top it all off, the Colts might just go undefeated all the way, simply because of everyone else's mediocrity.

Me too. Sounds crazy and sad. But when you're rebuilding, that's a huge part of it.

There haven't been 2 years this bad have there? I don't even think the first 2 years for the franchise were this bad.

Anyway, on the division picture. We lost by a total of 80 points this week, I believe. That's a win by NE by 7 over the lowly Saints, and a -87 point demolishing by the other 3 teams. Ugh.

With the 2nd pick in the 2006 draft the Jets select Ken O'brien
The Dolphins get Linehart (there is a rumor of drug use)

The whole Colts thing really just adds insult to injury. Kind of like how they ran up the scores last year and Manning broke Marino's record. They still have to win a bunch more though. It's no easy task. Today's game showed they still have some struggles on D. If anyone can stop them, they might lose a game.

I really wonder when (if) there was another time where the AFC East was so bad as a group.
