I was just watching the replay of the game on saturday and I noticed the defense doing a celebration after a good play like a swinging of there arms, almost like an axe or maybe digging. I saw it like 5 or 6 times crowder did it I think porter did it, joey thomas did it after the interception, I was just wondering if anybody new what it was that they were doing. Thanks for the help and as always go fins.

Showboating.

I really wish players would just give high fives and go back to the huddle.

Crowder needs to concentrate on his play not his celebrations. That was a stupid penalty in the game but thats for another time.

I agree but sometimes its cool I was just trying to see if somebody knew what they were doing

I'd like to know the backstory for this as well.

While it's better than that JT draw-a-circle-and-punch dance...I wish they would just clap their hands once and go back to the huddle to get ready for the next play.

I noticed this as well. It looks like they are operating some sort of crank, as if to imply hard work or "grinding". It seems they are trying to come up with something of their own. If I had to guess I would say Crowder came up with it and I think thats a great sign of unity for the defense and a sign that Crowder is indeed taking up the vocal leader role for our young defense. I dont mind it at all.

I figured they were "Stirring the Pot".

I noticed that as well. It was pretty cool tho. I hope we can see a lot more of it this season.

yeah i dont mind celebrations as long as it is with your teammates like high five chest bumps pat on the helmet stuff like that but the axe chop and pointing to your bicep is showing up the other guy which i dont like. So if they want to do it so it on the sidelines play.

or as some would say "SHUT UP AND HIT SOMEBODY"

Not sure but...If it helps them unite- well they can do a riverdance for all i care if it gets us a few more sacks and interceptions.

crowder should celebrate. it's the first 2 plays behind the line of scrimmage i've seen him make since he's gotten here in a game.

maybe he'll step it up this year.

I saw a report on some local station down here last night, I think it was CBS, and they said it was inspired by Coach Pasqualoni. They said it was Coach's imitation of a crank fly. I don't understand it, but that's what they said it was. Something about Coach Pasqualoni telling stories of a crank fly.

I don't mind it. There are just so many new faces, and old faces in new roles, on the defensive side, if it draws them closer together and creates some solidarity, then I'm all for it. And from the story, that's what it seems to be doing. I can understand that sort of celebration.

After the game, they interviewed crowder and porter and asked about the celebration. Crowder said its something the defense has created and that what he did was just a sample of what is to come hinting at maybe more.

Personally I love that the defense is acting as a WHOLE. That means they really unite well together and everyone is doing the celebration as a team instead of the stupid individualistic target punch by JT.

The celebration hints at teamwork kind of like the ravens have to me.

They are cranking up the motor! That Big Bad D Motor!
