With the pad of pink slips already out of the desk drawer for receiver Terrell Owens, NBC Dallas-Ft. Worth reports that the Dallas Cowboys used a second sheet on safety Roy Williams. (Not receiver Roy Williams, Sid. Safety Roy Williams.)
The move comes two days after Williams gave the team a “trade me or cut me” ultimatum, and presumably after the team exhausted all potential trade opportunities.
As of last week, the Cowboys were actively shopping the seven-year veteran, but could find no takers.
Williams had been griping for nearly a year about his perception that he’s not a good fit in the specific 3-4 system used by coach Wade Phillips.
Per Todd Archer of the Dallas Morning News, the move saves $2 million in 2009 cap space.

Look for the Dolphins and former Dallas head coach Bill Parcells to possibly make a play for Williams.

thanks for the info Rasta. Seems like Dallas is cleaning house this week. Maybe they'll get rid of someone we might actually want to pick up here soon.
Uh oh! I just realized that because of your post, there will be an overwhelming urge for some to start a "let's get Roy" thread in 3 ... . 2.. ... 1 . . . .

If he doesn't fit into Dallas 3-4 scheme why would he fit into ours - unless he can play linebacker.

He is more of a liability in coverage. No thanks.

Good moves for once by the Cowboys. Roy Williams is done. He hasn't been effective for years. T.O. is a proven cancer.

Imagine if you will....Scorpio Babers and Will Allen @ CB and Roy Williams playing coverage at safety.....not a pretty sight is it?

Maybe we can sign him for two games next year so he can blitz and "horse-collar" Brady.

Roy williams

i know we are set with our safeties, with wilson and bell.. i LOVE the WILSON signing, and i LOVE having BELL back, he's one of my fav defensive players on this team. But with injury history should we sign ROY WILLIAMS?we need all the secondary help we can get with BRADY BACK

im not saying ROY WILLIAMS will fix our DB problem, but he can help and he knows the defense.

I wouldn't mind seeing good ole Roy Horse-Collar Mr Brady. I don't know if we'd be interested in signing the guy or not because his pass coverage skills have slipped, but as an in the box SS there is really nobody better in the league except maybe Polamalu. We'd probably bring him in for depth but I'm sure he's looking to start, and probably wants more coin than we'd give him so I don't expect him to come to Miami.

He's a bad tackler and a coverage liability. The cowboys only played him 2 downs when he was healthy last year. So, no we should not sign him.

I think he would be worth a look, but at a cut salary. He lacks speed. Put him on a weight program, he gets burnt too much.
