As much as Eric Mangini has tried to change the culture in Cleveland, one of his biggest challenges now is changing the mind of Browns defensive tackle Shaun Rogers.

Rogers has grown so disenchanted with the situation in Cleveland that he has asked the Browns not to pick up the $6 million option-bonus payment due to him next month, a source close to the defensive tackle said. Rogers would rather be released after one season with the Browns, despite still being owed another $15 million in guaranteed money.

Now would you take a chance at this guy. I personally would not cause he is like the TO of DT, everytime he is not happy he wants to book and I dont like that.

Nah. He's good, but like you mentioned he is the TO of DT, and we just don't have room for guys like that on this roster. Ahem .. Channing Crowder..

That is a really interesting development.

For his career Rodgers played in Detroit's Cover 2 D and then went to Cleveland's 3-4
He is a proven NT. Stats are:
6'4 350lbs.
This guy demands double teams which is basically the main job of a NT in a 3-4. I think he would fit great.

The negatives is his contract is huge. But a NT is pricless in a 3-4.
As far as citing his "displeasure" with his situations. He was a model citizen in Detroit for 6 years. Minus a stripper assault with no charges pressed.

I just think that at the age of 29 he wants to be on a winning team. Cleveland seems to be going backwards, and years in Detroit can kill anyones moral. Its like Oakland.
I would want to win too.

He's clearly worth a look.

So he has never shown he can officially play NT, but I definitely say his stats give him a shot.

I agree with you the guy is a beast and to correct you on one point, cleveland plays a 3-4 so hes a proven NT

Wow I am an idiot. I have no idea why I thought that.
I knew the Browns played a 3-4, but for some reason lost my brain.
The damn Obama speech got in my way of me making a logical point.

I guess thats politics in general.

I now flip flop. I am going to edit the post to go into "damage recovery mode."

Its my WaterGate

no worries

I don't think it's unreasonable for him to want out if he see that team unwilling to do what it takes to win. Some players would rather win than make tons of money. Given the fact Rogers is willing to give up on money he could earn, that pretty much tells you he wants to win and get paid, if they aren't gonna win he doesn't want to be their. He should know as well as anyone what a team looks like that doesn't want to win, he was with Detroit before he landed in Cleveland.

With that said, I would love to see the guy sign with the Dolphins. He's a premiere defensive Linemen worth the big bucks. I think we would suddenly become not only a tough team to throw against, but you wouldn't see us giving up to many 100 rushing games either. Now I know this is just a pipe dream, but man oh man we would be INSTANTLY better with the type of player he is.

Oh well, we can always dream.

I would like him and definately think he would fill a needed position, seeing Solia is a huge disappointment thus far, although I dont want to start going on a spending binge with all these proposed FA signings

If he becomes available...

He would be the Dolphins top target in Free Agency. The NT is the BACKBONE of any really good 3-4 team. It would be a great signing and allow Miami to draft other positions in the draft.

anyone who walks away from a Franchise & 15million dollars guaranteed cannot be trusted
