The St. Louis Rams have placed wide receiver Torry Holt and offensive tackle Orlando Pace on the trading block, league sources told Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Although Rams General Manager Billy Devaney has acknowledged that the team has enough room under the salary cap to sign cornerback Ronald Bartell and safety James Butler after signing center Jason Brown to a five-year, $37.5 million deal, the Rams could certainly use some more breathing room.
Per Thomas, cutting or trading Pace and Holt would create $14 million in salary-cap space.
The Rams have been quiet on the outlook for Holt and Pace with Devaney indicating Friday that he didn’t know what would happen with the two veteran standouts. However, league sources said the team might even be willing to unload them for lower-round draft picks.

I dont want to suggest trading for Holt afterall he is 32 years old and not the player he use to be, but If released for a two year deal he would be a nice option. Harrison is just to old for my taste.

The Dolphins will not be giving up draft picks for veterans. Jeff Ireland has made that very clear.

Torry Holt

Any thoughts for a trade for Holt, and if so, what would you be willing to give up to get him.

I know nothing about his contract, but I would feel comfortable giving up a 4 or 5..

I never suggested giving a pick, but it has been widely reported he will be released. I think he is a better than Harrison at this point in Harrison´s career and cheaper.-

What team in their right mind would trade for Pace and take on his salary. He is getting old and has been injured the last few seasons. I dont even know what Holt's salary is but I am assuming it is pretty hefty as well.

If released, maybe. For a trade, definitely a no. His trade would probably require trading away multiple draft picks.

PS. Where did you see that he would be released? I have not heard anything of the sort.

Rams would prob trade Holt and Pace for 1 Mid round pick per Rotoworld.

We should do that . A good starting WR who has a couple of years left and a T we can use for a year or two for a 3rd or 4th round pick. It would be stupid not to do that. Its way better than the Deal we got from Dallas last year.

Rams are dreaming. Everyone knows they're just going to release them. Then if for some reason 2 future HOFs want to come to the fins for depth at a very cheap price then of course we should be interested.

I wouldn't mind having him on the phins if he came as a FA, he would defiantly be able to help our recievers with route running,

if Holt's contract sucks then he could be had for a 7th, but then nobody would make that deal

he will be released cuz the Rams have no leverage at this point

Do You Chance Him Signing With Someone Else?

Or give up a 3rd - 4th rounder for proven talent that still has at least 2 years of good football left.

you can't take on a bad contract for that reason

if he signs elsewhere then so be it

I watched Torry Holt play a lot last season, and he showed me that he had little to nothing left. People may not like Marc Bulger, but he's an effective passing QB, so i'm not going to put Holt's bad year on him. I realize Orlando Pace was hurt and Steven Jackson was playing all year with a nagging injury, maybe that made Holt easier to defend, but he really contributed NOTHING. I think he's done.
