wanny bashers now calling for 40+ runs this week

what a joke. all the same people that were bashing wanny for his "3 yards and a cloud of dust" offense now expect to see us run 40+ times a game, vs the pats no less lol. you know what happens when you try that against a good team showing 8 and 9 man fronts? 1st and 10 run, 2nd and 8 run, 3rd and 5 incomplete pass. punt. but hey, i guess you guys are alright with that because and your favorite philosopher once said, "it's not a sin to punt."

40+ runs come after you've shown you can throw the ball and exploit 8 and 9 man fronts. you get a 10-14 point lead and then use a nice balanced attack to keep moving the chains and the running attempts start to add up. the defense gets tired and you end up with 40 rushes for close to 200 yards.

if we come out this game and just start pounding, here's whats gonna happen. first series, punt. pats go 5 wide, score. 2nd series punt, pats go 5 wide score. now its still the 1st quarter and we're down 14-0 and if we don't score this series it's gonna be 21-0 real soon.

BALANCE. BALANCE. BALANCE. has saban not preached this enough?

this team is royally ****** until we get a qb that can make accurate throws against man coverage to move the sticks and keep the defense honest.

Your positive attitude is killing me. I want us to get R&R going first, and establish the run. This will take pressure off of Gus, and wear down the paties defense. If they continue to have 8-9 in the box, that's when you go to the pass. I just don't want to start the game with putting a lot of pressure on Gus. I think that we have to put the game is Gus's hands not lose the game, and to let him know that the Offense is here to step it up, and help carry the load. Let's Go Dolphins! I want to see Tedy with his hands on his hips tired of chasing R&R. :beerbang:

if not for a few exaggerations and the whole "this is what we should do" part, i'll agree with you. not a bad rant.

Thank you, it seems many fans don't understand that its balance and at least the threat of a passing game that is required for a successful running game.

A balanced team is the most dangerous team to face always.

We all realize in hindsight that it should have been running play on 3rd and 2, and if it had been and it had been stuffed those same fans now calling for a run would be whining about the lack of imagination in our playcalling, or something else.

It real easy to play monday morning quarterback and call the opposite play of what didn't work, and I really don't mind people criticizing the call per say, its the fans that go overboard with their criticism as if they have never made a bad call or mistake in their life, its those fans that give all fans a bad name.

Problem in that with Wanny was that he was trying to run with an Oline by Wise. Couldn't/wouldn't work. Oline by Houck is much more effective with basically the same personell.

We all WANT to throw the ball and put up points quickly.....

But we are limited by our QB play.(see last week)

So for the time being..."3 yards in a cloud of dust" is our best chance.

Its really quite simple.

dude. given what we have shown on offense this year, especially at the QB position, what makes you think belichick is going to give us any chance to establish the run? the pats will play run heavy early to try and prevent exactly that. i gaurantee you if we come out and try to pound we will get down by a couple scores early and it will be over.

you cant wear down the defense going 3 and out.

Perhaps when they go to 8-9 in the box, if we can use Gilmore or McMichael in there as a blocker, and then slide them out with a pass, and give them the opportunity to shed a tackler or two. I think we have to use Welker, and Gilmore in this game more. We have to use Gilmore to stretch the field so we can get the Patsies out of the 8-9 in the box mentality. Also slide Ronnie out as a receiver, and help cause mis-matches as well.

The problem with Wanny is that he was Wanny, his staff was hired by him, his bad drafts were drafted by him...........geez, lets not get into this again.

To win, we are going to have to be able to run successfully right at their run D....No easy task.

Bro, I hear you, but I bet you Nick had a talk with the play calling, and I think the team will be pumped up. If you can't get up for the Pats, then you can't get up for a game. Maybe we put Welker or Gilmore in a quick slant opportunity, and see if we can put the ball between the defensive players.
